with this news, added to the fact that my little bruv (better known on here as JimmyMelrose) is back from France this weekend & off to Wallsall tomorrow then I can only see outcome come 5pm Sat..............
(only game JimmyMelrose has seen this season.....................yes, that's right - Stevenage -our only league defeat )
I'm very pleased for both of them , and they fully deserve it , i'm not disputing that fact , its just winning it is then normally followed by a downward spiral , i really hope this isn't going to happen.
I see no reason for us to go into a downward spiral. These awards haven’t gone (as they sometimes do) to a manager/player that fluked one good month. They go to the manager and player of the team that has consistently been the best throughout the season so far. Nothing to worry about; just enjoy.
Nice to see my little bit of research get a mention on the official website!
"Research has shown that after the 13 managerial awards handed out this season - the August, September and October accolades for the Championship, League One and League Two, and the first four monthly Premier League awards - only two sides have tasted defeat."
Only cursed in the sense that the team that wins the fa cup (for instance) one year rarley goes on to win it the next. You could therefore use statistics to indicate that winning the cup is a sure fire indicator that you will fail to win in the next year. This award is given to those at the top of their game, in a team on a run of form. By definition the next month is very unlikely to repeat that.
Now it's up to the team to prove that the award of manager of the month does not lead to crashing defeat. If the team play even close to its best we should be ok in Poland tomorrow.
Well done both and well deserved. Powell has done a brilliant job and Morrison has got better and better every week and the last month has become a real leader and a class act. In fact, Charlton are once again a class act from top to bottom.
The only curse is caused by people saying there is a curse and getting into players heads. No such thing as a curse and pleased he won the award, he deserved it.
As a kid Powelly was my first ever proper favourite footballer so I've got to say I got a bit of a lump in my throat seeing him as Charlton manager holding the Manager of the Month trophy for a 100% month while we sit top of the league. Granted it's a rubbish league but my 8 year old self would have been very happy

Gus Poyet was manager of the month only x2 times in 2010 /11 despite his team running away with the league.
Thanks Stig.
I wonder how many times a manager and player came from the same club ?
