Sheffield Wednesday away

edited December 2011 in General Charlton
I know its not for over a month, but was starting to look for some travel up there, and it all seems very expensive! Has anyone found any cheap travel to sheffield? Or know of a good place to look?

I think it would be great if we took a really good away following up for this one. Obviously its a huge game, so a big support would be a big boost, but also it would be brilliant to shut that lot up, especially as they seem to keep banging on about how rubbish our fans our.

  • Don't want to be a killjoy but traditionally January's tend to be pretty quiet away support wise.

People skinted from Xmas and what with the current economy I can see it even less.

  • I wanna book my train for this and Chesterfeild now but fear Sky might look to change the Wednesday game.
  • Check East Midlands Trains website, currently £16 to Sheffield and £19 back or a few quid more for first class. Good service, used them when I went to Sheffield for the united game.
  • Same question I asked about the Sheffield Utd trip, how long does it take to get from the ground to Sheffield station? As I am very tight on getting my last train back to Scotland. Also thinking the same about about Chesterfield.Any help much appreciated.
  • It's a bit further if memory serves me right Richie, think we got cabs there and the tram back in 06,

  • Getting the tram back after the game can take anything from 15-30 minutes it all depends how lucky you get. You could be lucky and jump in a cab. If you wanted to make sure you would have to leave before the end of you are tight for time.

  • Cheers. We had to leave Bramall Lane like a dog out of trap 1 at Crayford to get the train back, didn't get to clap the lads after the final whistle, plonked the boy on my shoulders and had a very brisk walk back to the station. So if its a bit further I might be struggling, since I will have Mummies lovely boy with me I will have to make sure I catch that last one.

Ive got a feeling its about 3 miles away
  • I think that the club could put on subsidised travel for this. Just a thought...

  • Going, staying up there and hitting the sheffield night life... booking the train up aftter christmas
  • You'll need a train and a tram to get to the game, the tram is only a couple of quid and you'll only really need to buy a single as coming out after the game with the crush to get on the  you won't have to show a ticket.
  • operation hillsbrough...

  • I think we will take a big following for this one.
  • You'd better off booking a later train home and having a drink or something to eat by the station as the trams take a while and you might have to wait as it will be a big crowd.
  • Club promotion to get the numbers?
  • no. lets try and get some decent support for a change without a promotion of some kind.

    This.
  • Richie Bramall Lane is much nearer the station. You won't make it from Hillsborough to the station in time unless you are on your toes before we have scored our 4th. Tram is best way back but they get jammed after the game.

You are going to need a better plan.

17:40 is my last one so it looks like I will be missing the last 10 mins at least.
  • silly tshirt time

    ...

  • Tickets on sale today for this so will prob get mine with Fulham ticket. Anyone else gonna do this? Hope we get soem good numbers as it is another massive game for us.
  • Am going but will worry about it later, 3 away games before that one!
  • Megatrain one way, East Midlands the other way, most cost efficient.
  • We should not have to want the club to do a subsidised travel for this game.

People should be wanting to make the effort for this game, potentially this could decide who wins the title at this early stage
