To scout or not to scout?

I read in the Standard article last night that Mr Ephraim and/or his agent got in touch with Sir Christopher to see if there was a chance of a move to Charlton. How much of this is his agent talking up his role or how much is this making the scouting system redundant? Discuss . . . .

    He said himself in the post match interview on player that he needed to go to a club where he knew the manager/ asst so he knew what their training schedule was all about and didn't want to end up somewhere that wouldn't be of any benefit to him. As he knew CP and more importantly Alex Dyer and how they set up their training, he suggested to his agent to contact Charlton to see if it was possible of a move.
