I think CP will have too much respect for the FA cup to make that many changes to the first team. CP is getting performances out of everyone that he plays. Charlton to win easily.
Although this is an obvious opportunity to give others a game, I am more concerned that we maintain the form that we have been showing. If we put in a dodgy performance Sunday like we did at Northwich ( yes I know it's a new team ), CP will have the job of getting everybody back into the right frame of mind quite uneccessarily. I understand that we will want to rest BWP and perhaps Morrison, also that people like Sullivan and Evina look ready, but these are fit young men we are talking about. Young men who are well paid to play often one game a week.
Our priority must be to keep on doing what we have been doing, also to show viewers that The Valley is a good place to be right now. A resounding win will add to the next gate, which equals income and a better atmosphere in the Stadium when we play Huddersfield. It's time for hard professionalism, not tinkering. The person who suggested playing Doherty, I hope, is joking.

We have a live date on Sky with Huddersfield on 28th. I think we need to put the supposed sky curse to bed by playing the regular strong team to put us in good stead for Huddersfield.
Nearly every week, we have been eliminating the memory of past poor performances. I remember Charlton losing to Preston 2-1 at home in the championship by a well organised side in cold wet conditions from a charlton team not up for the fight. 5-2 victory last week erases that.
We need to produce an emphatic performance for Sky to remove the previous Northwich debacle (remember the McLeod elbow ?) from our memories once and for all.
A strong performance will remind favourably of the 1980 -1981 season when we achieved promotion from division 3, and dispatched Harlow Town in the first round with goals from Martin Robinson and Derek Hales. We were top when we played Harlow as well.
Anyone that wants BWP to play tomorrow is on crack.
Agree. Especially with his injury history. This is why we have 'squads', and these squad players need games because we don't have reserve games. Too bad about Cort, he needs games with his Charlton teammates.
Some of the bile aimed at Doherty above is way over the top too.

A strong team means keeping the defence and midfield strong. BWP does not have to play or can sit on the bench for us to still field a strong team. Kermogant +
I don't want a whole second string team for the cameras. CP should follow Curbs practise in this respect, who would play strong teams in these types of games.
As a club we can survive a defeat to non league oppo in the cup but I don't think we can survive too many more seasons in this wankstain of a league One aim Play anyone but the first 11
If it wasn't on National Television and if the Huddersfield game wasn't being shown live, I would agree but it is live on television. It is important for Charlton fans who have lapsed, reminded that the club are building a decent team and may be tempted to come back to the club.
A strong starting line up is a necessity. It is debatable whether that should continue in following rounds even if the prize money is better in the FA Cup.
Not that bothered about cup runs, I agree that we need to concentrate on the league but we need to show a good account of ourselves for this occassion.

That's putting it mildly, mortimerician, unlike some I can't get a hard on after whooping the likes of hartlepool in this dross ridden league ....... We're a decent football club , SCP, get us out of here !!!
If we are going to build the club and show that we have turned the corner as a club and a team, a decent performance on national TV from a strong team is essential. It will enthuse the supporters, show those that have lapsed have left that they should consider returning and future ambitious players, who may be drawn to the club in the future that we are worth joining.
We want to get out of this league but embarassing ourselves on national TV similar to Northwich is not the way to do it. Lets not give the knockers, rival supporters and the media a chance to undermine the club as they love to do. The Northwich debacle for me was one of the lowest points that the club sunk to and it has got to be shown that this is a thing of the past. It will be a good, positive opportunity to show that we a decent team again.
Whats good enough for Curbs is good enough form me. It is not a midweek game but a regular Saturday game, the majority of the players should be able to cope with it. Rest BWP by all means and anyone with a slight injury, but a strong team is required. Play a weakened team in later rounds if necessary but not for this one.
1 or 2 - 0 to us, but really should be more, people afterwards have a moan about how the second string isn't strong enough etc etc. Now Francis is gone some poor sod in the reserves will find themselves appointed scapegoat in chief (I think the Doc may have this one sewn up judging by some posts on here...)

I agree, Alonso had a shocker against Brentford.

Lets have a strong team against Halifax for the supporters and the cameras and to set us up nicely for the Huddersfield game.
