Am I imagining things? Have we won games before by a 5-2 margin? My brain says that we have previously beaten Preston 5-2 as well as Halifax Town and Southampton. Am I going mad? Are any of these memories based on truth?

Cliff Holton masterminded and contributed to a 5-2 win against Preston in the mid 60s (?66).
About the same time give or take a season or two I remember seeing us beat Cardiff 5-2 too.

Cardiff, that was it - not Southampton.....good work, Len
Sep 63 CAFC 5-2 Huddersfield - stood right behind the CE goal and John Sewell's 25 yd screamer was heading straight for me. Fortunately the net got in the way.
Oct 63 CAFC 5-2 Cardiff. Fabulous game - each forward scored a belter. One of Firmani's first games back. A golden day, with 26000 present.
Apr 66 CAFC 5-2 PNE (see Len Glover above). Part of Charlton's annual Houdini act. Good Friday morning - scuttled over pm to WHL - THFC 1-4 West Ham. Next day saw Chelsea 6-2 West Ham and on the Tues night the return at Deepdale PNE 3-3 CAFC. Quite an Easter !!
was at this midweek one. mendonca returning to old club. didnt he score a hat-trick? foggy as hell that night in cleethorpes. a bit of a fight in car park after, bit of hand bags i think.
I was hoping for a sixth goal. I'm not sure if i ever seen us score 6 (in 90 mins) Is my memiory faling me - when was the last time we hit 6?
I have never seen us score 6 and I've been going since 1975. The last time we scored six was a 6-2 v Southampton on 24 Sept 76 (it was a night game and I wasnt allowed to go!). We also beat Swansea 6-0 on 29/8/72 and Notts County 6-1 on 19/9/72.

No - I think he only got one. If it's the game I'm thinking of, the Roof got a couple and I think Hunty got one too.
The Grimsby 5-2 away was a Friday night game....Mendonca got a penalty I think, Rufus a couple of headers, Hunt and an own goal after Powell cut one back from the by-line. We were superb that night.
The Cambridge United Hales/Flanagan game....Paul Curtis got an early one and when Hales scored a penalty, Flannagan shook his hand!
Lost 5-2 at Luton.....5-0 down and Andy Jones came on as sub to score two pretty good headers.

Halifax must be a false recall!
