Was at the Saints match Killer..... took us top of the league if memory is correct (Sat games to come), would have the gate at 15,000 plus
The crowd was 9,710 - our record going into the game was W2, D2, L2, so I doubt if we went top.
9,710 memory playing tricks, do remember a fantastic atmosphere that night - few must of bunked in. Reckon it did put us top that night, 2 points a win
Southampton was 24/9/76 - 35th anniversary on the day of the Chesterfield game this season.
Swansea 6-0 and Notts County 6-1 were three weeks apart in 1972. Flan's four goals made the Notts game more memorable.
I saw all three, but hadn't put together that all three were evening games.
Before that you have to go back to March 1963, when Plymouth were beaten 6-3 at The Valley on a Saturday (Charlton having lost 6-1 at Home Park earlier in the season). Mind you, in 60/61 Charlton won the same fixture 6-4 at The Valley on Boxing Day and lost 4-6 at Home Park the next day. They also drew 6-6 with Middlesbrough, thrashed Swansea 6-2 and beat Portsmouth 7-4. They won 6-1 at Luton in 61/62.
That's (not) enough sixes - ed.
Went to the Notts County and Soton games - missed the Swans game. I am glad you said that Flash got his four in the Notts County game not against Swansea as I certainly remember it. From memory we was played wide left in that game.It was only later that he moved into a more central role?

Correct - Wrexham was only 0-6, not 7. One down at half time and I said to my mate that we were gonna win 2-1.
