Clive Allen spotted at The Valley.

edited November 2011 in General Charlton

Was wondering why he'd be there today?

Anyone got any ideas?

  • Watching the match most probably.
  • I would be more impressed if someone saw Fred Whitlow...

I think he's doing the Football League Show instead of Claridge.
  • who "Fred Whitlow" ?
  • Any other celebs spotted in the Upper West yesterday Soundas ? :-)
  • I heard someone say joe Jordan was there too.

Of all the players I'd suspect scouting of BWP and wiggins to be honest.
  • I suspect it would be Wiggins he has got potential and they would be aware of him due to Harry's Bournemouth connections.
  • in the next week Charlton coaches and managers will watch maybe 10/15 matches between them at all levels.

    Spurs coaches do the same.

There will be a dozen reps, if not more, from other clubs at every game we play.  Maybe future opponents, looking at the team generally or looking at a particular player.  Charlton or Preston.

  • Yeah - I nearly bumped into him on my way to the khazi

    Erm....now let me think Bart??!!??
  • A few years back there were 3 or 4 scouts every week looking at Bailey.

Wiggins is a fantastic prospect, playing in a position where Cashley has kept playing for 10 years !

Imagine if you could pick up the "new" Cashley for a couple of million now - he would be worth 10 times that in the future.

Nothing to be alarmed about - it's exactly how did we got Wiggy in the first place !

Fantastic insight into the running of a modern football club. Thanks for enlightening us. Cheers.
  • Cheers Mr Wren, always good to get a compliment from a true fan such as yourself.

Good photo of you in the programme too

  • Can't see that they are there to watch bwp they've got the same player in Defoe

Hmm.  Must admit, I've never seen them in the same room.
  • He was at the valley for the den bosch game too.
  • Given that their left back is that clown Assou-thingy, I wouldnt be at all surprised if he was scouting Wiggins.

Bloke is class. No doubt he is heading for the premiership.

Maybe.  Certainly a class above in this division and still young enough to improve.

Would be wary of deciding just how good players are from performances v the likes of Preston and Hartlepool however.

    That's why it's alarming.

  • Kermorgant is exceptional in the air and if you were looking for an all round target man as cover then you could certainly do worse than taking a punt on him but my bet would be Wiggins or BWP. Can see defoe moving on as he's not first choice and will walk into most prem teams.

He must be one hell of a player if you think Benoit A-E is a clown.  I wouldnt swap him for any other LB in the Prem.
LB is the one position we dont have any cover for so I'd say its a possibility.  When I say cover, I'm not classing Gareth Bale as a full-back nor Danny Rose despite them playing there very occasionally.
