Many of us thought he was our best player last season - he is a good player and Championship standard IMO. Of course he was our best player in a completely different side. But having said that - of course we are not missing him - Hollands is an inspired replacement who none of us would swap with Semedo -even Semedo fans like me. The thing is- My Bournemouth mate said Hollands was good but Wiggins was our inspired acquisition - think Wiggins has been but Hollands has upped his game big time coming to us -he was good -now he is best in division quality with his overall game and the goals that Jose just doesn't have in his game (I know he got one last week - but would be surprised if he got more than 1 more)
Shows how good SCP is at spotting talent. Semedo strengthens Sheff Wed though - so I was thinking it wasn't a good move in that respect but to be honest, they are a fair bit off us so good luck to them -he might help them win the play offs - but we'll just focus on winning that league thank you very much!
Completely agree. Never gave less than 100%. We're better now though. Let's worry about our own team rather than obsessing about the opinions of the supporters of a team that aren't even our natural rivals. Move on.
Sheff Wednesday got a point against us but had to revert to luck (only chance) and trying to stop us rather than compete playing football. I knew at that game they were a long way behind us and agree - Huddersfield are our rivals in this league.
They have every right to big up their own club - they are supporters. I think they are the team to slip up if any does -not terrific away and rely too much on home form which they can't sustain (get 3 points every week). Having said that, I expect them to make the play offs - a Sheff Utd v Sheff Wed play off final would be good for the neutral wouldn't it?
Loved the heart and commitment Semedo showed for us in a period when a lot of players were taking us for a ride financially, pleased he's on Weds wage bill , Danny Hollands up to 5 league goals, a vast improvement and much better player, can't believe Weds think Semedo is the best centre mid in the division, deluded big time.
That Owls site cracks me up - is it intentionally like a comedy routine?
It is funny but then we didn't exactly help matters when the first Charlton rep on that topic used the kind of spelling that has unfortunately typified this site.

There is no doubt we are a much better team this season but I don't understand the description of Semedo as a luxury player not suited to 4-4-2. Hughes is playing a similar role to that which Semedo played and results and performances have improved dramatically.

This.
One player hasn't made the difference this season. It's a virtual complete new team (especially if you count a fit and rejuvenated BWP), yet people still focus on Semedo v Hollands. I was a huge fan of Semedo - still am. It is no surprise to me that he has become the Owls talisman. Would I swap him for Hollands? No Hollands is superb. Would I like us to have both available? Yes with no hesitation.
Semedo was not our POTY for no reason. There weren't too many realistic candidates last season Jacko apart. Who is going to be POTY this year - on current showing
Taylor
Morrison
Wiggins
Solly
Hollands
Jacko
BWP
Kermit
All of these players so far have received rave reviews from different Lifers

It's not the position, it's the style. Hughes is more dynamic, Semedo was excellent at breaking the oppo's moves up but Hughes seems to have more of an edge actually getting a move of our own started rather than simply passing it to someone else for them to deal with. Not a criticism of Jose, though, as what he did worked very well in the team setup he played in, but CP is more attacking in style and Hughes's play suits us better I'd say.

Agree Semedo and Hollands would be a good but Stephens was quality the first few games and would rather Stephens and Hollands when he gets his form back (and his place back)
Semedo was decent for us overall and always gave his all. It's a fact that often a player only looks as good as those around him and too often with us Semedo's midfield partner was inadequate either through inability or poor attitude.
At Wednesday he plays alongside Prutton who at one time looked like he might be as good as Scott Parker and is still an above average player at this level and arguably the Championship too.
Hence Jose looks better. Good luck to him. At times he was a rare shaft of light in a sea of darkness and dross when with us.

No - I mean the way they are constantly hurling abuse at each other. Disagreement usually makes it as far as one comment before the sexual epithets are out and the gloves are off. Oh I'm sorry, I'm mixing my metaphors...
Oh yeah. That too. It's weird. Even the Preston one is weird though judging by that 'applause' thread. I know they're from another part of the country and no disrespect but some of their posts were quite hard to understand. Definitely rather be a 'cockney bastard' any day.

Not obsessing. Family were watching X Factor, so spent five minutes on each of the two Sheff clubs and Hudds to see what they were saying. Quite interesting really. Most Weds fans think they're highly likely to go up, whereas most Utd fans seemed to have given up already.
Semedo is quite a formidable opponent if your setting a team up to be solid, not concede and nick a win. If your a team who are about to rip this league apart with quality football, then he's not your man. We will be ten points clear of Wednesday by xmas and twenty points clear by the end of the season and wednesday will be in the play offs - thats my view and although i've always respected Semedo's strength and attitude, i've never thought that he's a good footballer in the footballing sense of the word. I'll leave it at that. I promise.
He is a water carrier- and a very good one at that. We are doing well and we should be generous and honest, we shouldn't try to make out he was rubbish.
Well they would have a sex wee every five minutes if Hollands was playing for them.
Still laughing at this. Hollands is immense!
My Owls mate loves him and says he's what they've been lacking for a long time. I wish him well and am glad to see him doing well. Still partially associate him with our slide not his fault at all but I've confidence in our midfield again and our defence and seems a long time coming.
Never realised how one footed Semedo was when he played for us, but it was so obvious when he played against us. I thought we would really really miss him, now we really really don't! Was always a fan of his tough tackling and commitment to the game.
