Best game of the season for me so far , really enjoyed it , good to get a win after last weekends misery at Stevenage , that was what i call a real team performance , like Powelly had put a rocket up their bonnet , long may the fire continue to burn , in recent seasons we have had 1 decent thrashing a season , Peterborough away last season , and Mk Dons 5-1 (5-0 can't remember!) hope we have a few more of these a la Southampton , and start scoring goals for fun from all over the pitch.
Gutted to miss a great performance today as there was engineering works on the Liverpool ST line . Henry Jnr and me had nearly a six hour round trip to Stevenage last week.
I must be lucky - two league games for me so far this season - Bournemouth and Carlisle. It all seems so easy. How did we lose at Stevenage? A very good all round performance - Kermorgant and Wright-Philips both looked a handful and Hughes and Hollands mastered the midfield. We were a bit lucky with the sending off, but the gane was won by then,
Thanks for sharing your wifes birthing hours with us disco dog. Very interesting but still yes Rubbish I say. I'm with nla. lol.. need to recognise a joke lad.
Bit gutted to choose to be away for this game so have enjoyed reading reviews.
All did great. We have 2 amazing fullbacks in Solly and Wiggins. Solly is so assured and Wiggins is great at getting forward and then tracking back.
Not been keen on Hughes until today. Put in a great shift, could see him bleatin on all game keeping everyone else around him going as well, top class.
Many thanks to Carlisle for coming to the Valley to play football. They tried to play passing football and this helped us as we have superior players to them. The next hurdle we need to get over is beating the teams that just want to kill the game. Good all round team performance from all the players. They couldn't cope with our quick pass and move football, running their full-backs ragged all game long. When their LB got a yellow card early on, I thought he was going to have his work cut out today and fancied him to get sent off, as he did. Don't agree with one of the earlier posts that not much happened after our 4th goal. I thought there was some great football played with chances created that just lacked a final ball at times. But job was done and all want to be fit for Wycombe on Tuesday so if we did take our foot on the gas in the second half I won't be complaining.
Green is starting to look more like the player we knew we had. I'm sure there's more to come from him though. Front line scared the life out of their back four, and with us constantly swinging crosses in from both sides with pace. Also a big mention for Jase when he came on. Thought he came in looking really up for it and with confidence and got straight into the game. Others might not agree but I think he's worth having as a squad player and is a decent sub.
Thought Carlisle's No9 Rory Joy (sounds like a porn name) looked a decent player and certainly kept Solly on his toes, beating him hands down twice. Did make me laugh how animated he was for every decision that went against them.
Great turn out of over 16k. The atmosphere was buzzing in the NU.
Carlisle's management didn't cover themselves with glory. From the previous two games anyone could see that the way to counter Charlton is to press up and deny space. They sat back from the start and allowed us to build momentum and confidence and fortunately we took our chances.
I've only seen Hughes play once v Preston and I was impressed that night as he carried a very inexperienced midfield on his own. He's a decent player and I wasn't worried at all to see him included.
There's credit due to all the players who started because they were all on their game. When they all turn up (which won't be every week) Charlton are a really good side to watch.
Nice for Kerm, Green and Hamer to shine as well.....they all needed a good home performance to get the crowd on their side and build their confidence. And what a decent sized crowd too. All in all a brilliant day for the club.
PS: Felt for the Carlisle fans. Most of us well know how they must've been feeling.
When we play the football we can (which is not all the time- even yesterday) teams at this level can't live with us -even I suspect Huddersfield. Of course the tactic from most inferior teams has to be to stop it - Sheff Wednesday adopted that tactic (and that surprised me) although I think Preston and Huddersfield will be more honest -which will suit us. Carlisle tried to beat us playing football -they couldn't but don't deride their management for it.
Brilliant day and so glad I picked up four (yes four!) season tickets for the family the other week When was the last time we could relax at 3-0 up?
"20% autos 79% play off drama 1% another season guaranteed to be south londons worse team"
I'm much more optimistic... At this stage I'd say it was 50:50 whether we make the top two - All of the top three playing away next Saturday so let's see
We simply don't know how this team is going to deal with wet mushy winter games and the next bad run... And we don't know how Huddersfield and Sheff Wed will respond either
Green put in more crosses in one game than Waggy has all season!!!
Give it a rest. We win 4 - 0 and you have to dig out Waggy. Green wasn't all that today and he's still has 1 assist and 0 goals so right now the player you described as a "headless chicken" is ahead.
Not digging anyone out (believe it or not, I want Waggy to come good), just proving a point.
Got nothing to do with winning 4-0 either, because I would still be saying the same if we had lost 4-0. There are lot of people on here who are blinkered when it comes to Wagstaff. Yes, he is a trier and will work his nuts off for the team but that is not enough. Green is a class act and yes his first couple of games weren't great, but he has hardly played this season and also had a virus that put him back a few weeks. If we are going to win anything this year we need our class players on the pitch not ones that run into blind alleys everytime they get the ball.
I don't know what game you was watching Ben if you thought Green wasn't all that today, apart from Wiggy, best player on the pitch.

Before Carlisle, we only picked up one win in five in all competitions. Put Wycombe (and then Hartlepool) to the sword in the next week and I'd say that's a pretty good way to respond to our first "slump" of the season.

Really? Green was better than Kermit? No. Better than Hughes? No. Better than Jackson? No, Better than BWP? No. better than Morrison, Solly or Taylor? No. Better than Hollands No.
Better than Hamer? Yeah, maybe. Just my opinion but have a look at the match ratings and I'm not the only one.
Green did OK but how many goals or chances did his crosses created? Against 10 men remember. How often did he come too deep? At one point in the 2nd half he came back to collect a cross field ball intended for Solly. So when he got it he was in his own half with no one in front of him to pass to and the move broke down
Green is a good player but Waggy put two very dangerous crosses in as soon as he came on.
As I've said before why can't you praise one player without running down another. No need to dig Waggy out.

We'll have to agree to disagree then Ben, you rate Waggy, I don't (yet!). I hope having Green around helps him to improve his game. The main purpose for a right midfielder/winger is to be a supply line for your forwards and I know who I would rather have in the team to do that!

Well done the men in red.
I refuse to be satisfied with even a 4 nil win
Sack everyone
Looking forward to our coverage on football league show. It should be decent, I missed 2 of the goals as I was on the toilet FFS.

Starting a collection for RugbyAddick to persuade him to stay away permanenetly .
