With all due respect to Portsmouth their bubble will burst like ours did last season.
For that reason we should have been able to get at least a point on saturday given that we would normally beat Portsmouth at home.
I agree it is harsh to be too critical of Pouso at this stage but my concern is that we did not really create much, despite Romm's free role, and persisted with lumping aimless balls in the air which were meat and drink to the likes of Campbell and Primus.
We are not a physically big side compared to most other Prem teams and should therefore play the ball to feet far more than we seem to be doing.

But when he gets near his first team, we will be be a phyiscally big side.

How do you guys feel curbs would have got on with the same fixtures?
Well all you can do is look back at the corresponding fixtures from last year, and i think we are 1 point down.
We love Curbs here for what he has done, but there is no messiah worship for him. There is a large band of us who felt that if Curbs stayed another season, we would of been relegated.
We need to give Dowie 10 games minimum. He has had some bad luck with the injuries. I thought he gambled with the starting line up on Saturday but it was a brave move with 3 up front and playing Romm and Ambrose. OK, we were badly found out as we had no middle of the field but he changed it at half time.
I think Faye gets better with every game and was great on saturday. I am also optimistic about Big Fat Reid and Traore. Too early for Pouso and Diawara. The one I feel most let down by is JFH - he just ambles around at the moment. Romm and Ambrose are simply too frustrating most of the time and the big area for concern is the lack of creativity.
After 10 - 15 games, if things don't improve, then we worry. I just hope it won't be too late.
Mind you, Pardew may be sacked by West Ham by then... Dowie out, Pardew in????????????????

I suppose the key thing for CAFC, although it may seem early to be saying this is you have to make sure that you beat the promoted teams at the valley and dont get turned over when away to them.
who is first up for you out of watford, sheff utd and reading?
Thats a very good point Selhurst, Curbs as a rule picked up quite a few more than he lost against the promoted sides, I mean a potential 18 points is nearly half of our initial survival target.

No better. We lost against Bolton last year, but beat Pompey, played ten men twice (albeit winning one of the games) but we had the misfortune not so much with injuries but to run into Man U on form etc. Against Chelsea we played well in defeat and lost to a soft goal against Portsmouth.
Given that the side needed reconstructing and revitalising I'm actually happy with things so far, it could be better obviously but only Man U outplayed us and maybe West Ham but that was when we were down to ten men.
