Him and Barry combined is a worrying lack of pace that will be exposed against better teams though. We need a pacier partner for one or the other
Parker slow? Don't be deceived because he strolls about. I remember at the Valley he chased after Wiltord on a breakaway for 60 yards and robbed him. Slower now but not slow. The reason he wins tackles is because he is deceptively quick.
Top drawer player and we could all see that 10 years ago, criminal he has so few England caps when you look at the kind of players who have accumulated 30+ during Parker's career.
Sad the way he left but he's the CAFC youth product I'm most proud of because he was doing everything he's getting plaudits for now in our side 10 years ago. He's top class and he learnt it all at Charlton. No-one can claim they plucked him from our youth team and polished him into the final product - he was the finished article when he left and if anything a couple of clubs let him get into dis-repair after he went.

100% correct in every respect exiled. Wasted by england as well as at club level. So, so much better than carrick, as the main example given his england caps and the ultimate box to box midfield. Utter, utter class. Dont want to go over óld ground but who knows where both he and us couldve taken each other had he stayed.

Spot on Exiled.Bowyer was close to Parker's class but Scotty's drive was phenomenal.
Hmmmm, I still think Bowyer is a better all-round player than Parker and was very unlucky to be an attacking midfielder at a time when Lampard and Gerrard basically had the slot sewn up between them.
Don't forget that Bowyer played in the Champions League semi-finals for Leeds and in the Leeds side that was finishing top four consistently, Parker has never reached those kinds of heights in his career, discounting his spell at Chelsea where he was a bit part player.
I can't begin to describe the difference Scott Parker has made to the Spurs side since his transfer from West Ham United.
What a fantastic player!
I'll put my hands up and admit that I thought he was a needless aquisition, as we already had players like Modric, Sandro, Huddlestone, Jenas and Palacios at the time.
But with Hudd being injured, Palacios sold-on and Jenas loaned-out, Parker has cemented his place in the Tottenham starting line-up and we've won every Premier League match he's played for us.
Not just Parker, it's the same with Bent and Ashley Young. Been playing like this week in week out in the Premiership for 5 years (even longer in Parker's case), and we've only just started playing them. Makes watching England all the more frustrating when you know we should've had these 3 playing rather than wasting time with the likes of Heskey and SWP for so long.
I still maintain that Parker played his best football at Charlton, glad he's getting some match time for England, last night suited his game, pleased he's moved to Spurs, as it gives him more of a chance to make it to the Euros next summer.
Would have been a charlton legend if he'd stayed with us , but that's in the past now, dont know the toll of injuries on his body, in terms of how long he can go on for, would Charlton fans ever want him back? Particularly if we made the premiership again?

+1. Has been our MOTM in every game he has started for us so far. Absolutely immense. Have to say even when Huddlestone comes back, I cant see him getting in the starting XI ahead of Parker. He's added the backbone we've been sorely missing for years.
Anyone who watched him play for us or Wet Spam over an extended period could see that he is a class player. Extremely badly advised in jumping ship to Chelsea, but maybe he's learnt from that (you never hear his name mentioned in relation to any of the stupidity that goes on around footballers in the modern era). Arsenal's loss is your gain - how Wenger completely ignored him for five years is totally baffling. Stick him in their midfield next to Fabregas, Wilshere and Nasri and they would have won trophies hand over fist. The Gonners' loss is the Yids' gain!
Chelsea were always the wrong club for him at the time, but even saying that the move should not have worked out as badly as it did. Makele had that position nailed down for them, but Chelsea still played enough games and rotated the team enough that he should have got significant game time but they also failed to see his potential and under-used him imo. It's a shame that it's taken until he's 30 to get a slot at a side that looks capable of picking up some silverware and a Champions League place. The Chelsea affair stunted him a little bit, but I don't think it set his development back by 5 years - he was still pretty damn good for Newcastle and he's been loved at every other club he's played for and probably considered the best player too.
In the last 5 or 6 years, who have the top sides had who have been better at what Parker does? Essien probably (when fit)? Alonso maybe but a different style of player? Fletcher maybe? Other than that, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City,Spurs, Chelsea (Mickel) and England have all had inferior players filling his role while he's been left kicking his heels at mid-table and lower clubs like Newcastle and West Ham.
He just seems to have been undervalued by football in general for some reason. The fee we got for him remains his highest transfer fee, whilst players like Henderson attract fees in the 10's of millions despite Parker proving himself vital to almost every team he's played for.
I know some will never forgive him but it's all water under the bridge as far as I'm concerened and I'm glad he's finally, for the first time since he split from Jensen, being given a platform and a partner that show him in his very best light. I think Spurs have a legitimate case to claim they have the best central midfield pair in the league right now.
I still remember meeting Scott Parker and getting his autograph in that season he was sold. Because of that I hated him for a while (i was 7) but I support him every time he plays and he's in all my dream/fantasy teams.

That, Absolutly spot on. Great post dude.
My penarth, I think he is exactly what England needed for years, and I'm gutted that he has not played for England more! I'm so glad that the Flampard and 'Steveie G' 'partnership' has finished too, Spotty has really made that position his own, I'm just sooo frustrated that it's taken this long for him to be an England Regular, and I think it's that poxy decision to Leave us at that rubbish time to a rotten club which did fuck all for his long term career!
Just one more thing, I hope Chelski blow up, the whole place, fans, rotten ground, horrible players, just bomb, bomb Tata see ya later, NOT! Scum.

He has noone to blame but himself though

He's just named John Terry as his cloest mate in the England squad.
