You only have to look at the attendances to see that nobody gives a damn about it. I was disappointed we lost on Wednesday as I thought it was a real opportunity for a day out at Wembley, but I had no plans to attend any games unless we got to the area final stage. I can't see any justification for persisting with a tournament that only attracts any interest in the final two rounds.
The watching paint dry, piss pot trophy is an absolute and complete waste of time, money and energy. It is bad enough having to watch some of these God awful teams twice in one season without paying to see them again.
Nothing worse than a game of football that no-one wants to win and even fewer want to watch. It also completely devalues the concept of a Wembley Final- a final for losers and non-entities from the lower leagues only.
At least if it was Dulux there might be some cute shaggy dogs and half time colour-matching.
I make a point of boycotting Johnstones paint as a modest but dignified protest about their shameless violation of the beautiful game.

I agree with others on here It is a complete meaningless game and shows you people wouldn't even pay a £5 to see this. When I was watching the Spurs Arsenal game on Sunday they advertised this game and it felt cringeworthy. I am sure hundreds of fans thought "oh musn't miss that. I will stick that in my diary". As I had been to the carling cup games I was only hoping to see some of our "reserve" squad come into it. I didn't care less about the result. Came away thinking thats one less competition to worry about.
At least the Crown Paint Trophy would have the ring of royalty and class to it.
Sitting in the near empty Valley on a rainy autumn night with about 230 other hopeless victims watching your beloved Addicks being beaten by some non-League upstart of a pub team all for the sake of a tin of paint. This is the stuff of nightmares not sport.

Never put that vile toxic liquid on your walls and fences ever again until theydecide to sponsor a more suitable sport like extreme DIY or competitive shed erection
hopefully we will never have to compete in it agian.
However im sure teams who have got to Wembley think it worthwhile. We should have got there last year as we had brentford and exeter to beat - I suspect there would be some different views then.
the silly thing is having to play 6 who played the previous game.
I agree that it's a waste of time for us but i see that as one of the penalties of being a big fish in league 1. For the majority of league 1 and 2 clubs it's the only realistic chance they have of getting to Wembley and maybe is a source of income to them? I wouldn't want us to get to Wembley in it. When we get to Wembley (new Wembley), i want it to be FA cup or play offs - even the Carling cup would be a watered down trip for me. Maybe i'm scarred by that shocking turn out and result against Balckburn in the full members - nothing but an embarrassment.
The beautiful thing about the beautiful game is that its for everyone. I personally love the fact that one of the truly unique things about the English game is that it is so well supported right down the leagues. Surely a club that doesn't have a reserve team can benefit from a game that's competitive but that doesn't really matter if you lose.
It's not like our League Cup/FA Cup runs are likely to be lengthy affairs.
It is a good competition for those that value it. It needs to scrap the 6 player rule and the bigger teams will it embrace more. It offers a relatively easy path to Wembley and a nice day out to clubs that wouldn't normally get a chance which I think is a good thing. Not sure we should be happy to class ourselves as one of those clubs and actually quite pleased we are out of it as we know it would only have proven to be a distraction but had we got to Wembley I would have enjoyed it. Really hope and think we won't be playing in it next year.
I can see where McLovin is coming from.. where there is "no pressure" but get game fitness and show what you can do.... such as Green has done (Alonso 50/50 coming back from injury but was playing 2nd div football with Tenerfie will he be that good> and Hughes (I am not impressed with). In all honesty 2 players I think who will be usefull for 1st team is Evina and Pritchard and dependable Euell. Green we know what he can do potentially.. The rest I am not convinced with to be honest)

Suspect the Sky money just about covered our losses, although no idea how much the players are paid in appearance bonuses, etc.
