Thats the beauty of the squad CP has built - strength and weakness in depth. We have built a squad to not only get promoted but also crash out of loss making competitions without accusations of not trying. Genius.
Thanks for your comments saying that we already play friendly matches, but the point surely is that we can't be playing enough otherwise we wouldn't still be talking about it as a problem.

There is no way Evina will get in front of Wiggins - if Wiggy is out then Jackson will fill in for him at left back .
No disrespect mate, but what a silly statement. Evina has shown he's more than capable of filling in if Wiggy not avaliable. As for Jackson filling in, who would then play LM? Wouldn't play Green or Waggy there personally.
I think we missed Pritchard in the centre of the park. I hope he recovers from his injury in good order.
Doherty is past it. Difficult to say with Alonso, but apart from his general apparent chirpiness, it is difficult to see how Hughes fits into the profile of a player who could play in the championship.
Evina is good cover. The positive impact Kermogant has produced puts him ahead of Jason Euell. Jason Euell should be concentrating on getting his coaches badges sorted.
The problem we had last season when Powelly came in was he wanted to play like Barcelona and the boys were determined to play like Arbroath. Doherty was part of that problem and Hughes definitely subscribes to the school of get the ball-hoof the ball-survey work. Our ususal strategy is to get the ball from the back, pass out the the full backs and then work it to the central midfielders who will then try to bring in the wide midfielders. That doesn't work when Doc is falling over, Hughes is hoofing it long, Alonso is playing poorly and Stephens and Jackson are doing their level best to avoid the ball. I don't think we're weak in depth. Alonso can definitely play to our style, he just needs to cut out the errors, and normally we won't be playing a team that so overwhelmingly goes against our plans. I think our depth is good in that we have players who can fill the gaps made when the first team get injured, which is more than good enough at L1 level. It's not until the Premier League that teams can really afford to have two excellent players per position.

How can you possibly consider it to be a problem without knowing how many of these games we play?
Regarding Alonso, I admit he didn't have a great game, but a couple of his "misplaced" passes look to me like being the result of expecting a teammate to have made a run or to have taken up a position. So, for me it was more a case of a team that's not used to playing with each other. I guess I'm saying they didn't "gel"!
Heard on the grapevine that supposedly Josh Wright is signing a short term deal with us until January. Might be as cover for Pritch.
Shouldn't this be on the Rumours thread : - )
Was a decent player and did OK it seems with Scunny but not sure if he is "ready made". Been out of the game for a few months so may not be fit and maybe his head isn't in the right place either.
Maybe being unfair but the way he left Scunny and then didn't find another Club smells a bit off to me.
But a short term contract and with some people he knows might help. If I saw is right then this sounds like an extended trial for him to prove his worth while a small outlay and risk for us.

think you're being a bit over generous to him here
Feels a bit like an old pet being put down. One we've just been looking after for a bit. I'm sure he's been carrying an injury the whole time he's been with us. He just doesn't seem to run properly
Where did you hear that? He's still under contract so we'd have to pay him off

Very generous. The pen was down him and no one else.

"Very generous. The pen was down him and no one else."
Of course, Henry. Even Alonso himself held his hands up in acknowledgement and apology.
For the pen, Alonso was caught in possession as he looked up to pass the ball. The opponent was too quick for him, that's all. If it had happened in the middle of the park, it would have rarely been of any consequence.
Anyway a fitter, sharper Alonso who had been playing regularly no doubt would have got his pass away much quicker

The pen was due to Alonso attempting to pass his way out of his own penalty area and being caught in possession. He had plenty of time and opportunity to clear the ball and should have just hoofed it out instead of arsing around with it.
The bad thing about it was that it was a goal based on multiple-bad-decision making: losing possesion and hooking the guy's foot. I'd have thought decision making would be the last thing to get rusty and the thing that our most talented/experienced midfielder would be strongest in. Still, nobody should be written off after what was just a dreadful team performance.
Imagine this thread if we weren't clear at the top of the league with a largely new team. :-/

The comparison with 09/10 is interesting. That season we had no squad and had to rely on loans and playing players out of position.
This season I would hope the likes of Solly and Jacko will not be forced to play left back.

He can and will play better. I hope.
Yeah, you've already told us that about 3 months ago. zzzzzzzzzzzzz
I agree 100% with this post.
