I don't think I'd want Semedo back now. I wouldn't have said that six months ago, but I now believe what others were saying about him being more of a problem than a solution. I am worried about the suggestion that we'll never see Alonso (if it's true).
I still think we need a 'replacement' for BWP. If/when he is injured or suspended we are going to struggle. We have no like for like replacement, and if he was missing for an extended run we would be in trouble. We also have no one to bring on for him in a game if he is injured.
If we are still top and a few points clear I would imagine we would only be looking at players with the potential to be top class Championship players otherwise there would seem little point in bringing them in.
On that basis most positions could be strengthened...we would certainly need more strength up front and at CB if we were at the top end of the Championship.
The problem with bringing in a replacement for BWP is the player would sit on the bench (at best) waiting for a chance, wouldn't keep match fit, and then be expected to score goals soon as BWP is unavailable.
A player good enough won't be cheap, but anyone that good wouldn't sign for a League 1 club to sit on the bench.
