  • Least unexpected statement of the day tbh

It's not worked there at all

He'll be off abroad again soon with his tail between his legs
  • did he give his resignation speech in a dutch accent?
  • Have William Hill put Alan Curbishley in as favourite for the new manager yet?
  • they will prob opt for o'neill
  • they will prob opt for o'neill
But would O'Neil opt for them? Can't think why he would - doesn't appear to be the sentimental type.

Who else will be on the list, Glenn Hoddle, Graeme Souness, George Graham, Iain Dowie .........?
  • I'd like to see them appoint Phil Brown. ;-)

    roy keane or bryan robson

    or Iain Dowie :)
  • To be fair they promised mcclaren a substantial transfer budget and failed to deliver. Can't see any big name managers taking over. Expect someone like peter reid, it will feel like promotion after his time in league 2.
  • curbs would do well there but my bristol city mate reckons his lined up for that job

  • If that ken from Bexley takes another photograph of me looking like a mad man I will.............
    get my ' brolly out'?
  • Why hasn't Steve Kean been sacked yet?
  • Sean Odriscoll if they have any sense
  • Why hasn't Steve Kean been sacked yet?
Because Venky's haven't got a clue how to run a football club, or a pot to piss in.

Chairman has resigned too, goes end of season.
  • Has been a dead man walking for a while now so no big shock. Would love to see Curbs go there as they have some very good players and despite a poor start could still be challenging around the Play Offs.

Steve Kean and Keith Millen to follow this week.

  • My Forsest supporting mate is also considering his position.
  • Sean Odriscoll if they have any sense
Brian, if they have more sense
  • Surely there's only one man for the job? None other than the man who picked Chris Powell's signings for him - plus a number of others that the Club have not had the foresight to buy yet - and is single-handedly responsible for us being top of the league. Forget Powell, forget Slater, this man is the real star of the show. I just hope we can hang onto him, sincerely I do.
  • Say it every time a half decent job comes up but what about Curbs for Forest?

  • Hey, good call Valley11, I hadn't thought of Curbishley filling that vacancy

Sorry, who are you talking about?
  • Don't want Curbs at any club who could soon be our rivals for promotion / fight against relegation. I'm happy for him to stay on TV and appear in our West Stand from time to time. Why is everyone on here so obsessed with getting him a job?
  • Sacking managers isn't always the answer. Chrissy may have gone at some clubs after his Charlton start. Where would we be now if that had happened.
  • It's easy to hit the panic button and sack the manager as fans are generally fickle, hope MK Dons boss gets the job , weakens them and aids us.
  • Fair play to the bloke though, its not worked out and he has held his hands up and walked away without compensation.

Ten times more class than Pardew.

But we might have been saying the same about Powell - no he rolled up his sleeves and showed us what he was made of. The difference was that we love Powell, if he was McLaren would he have got the chance to show us what he can do? Fans do have to look at themselves but probably never will.

That's true, but he refused to walk away from England, and was probably financially independent from the minute the FA sacked him. He's also, probably, make a fair bit from his jobs abroad. Pardew, who I hate, probably had less money than McClaren, and might have walked earlier if he did. And it is possible that he still thought he could turn things around.

Also, we don't know if the resignation was discussed with the board who gave him some money to go.

Needless to say, I don't hide my contempt for McClaren very well.

Give that man no credit for anything and no benefit of the doubt ever would be my advice.
  • Doing a good job at Newcastle.
