Charlton substitutes to score with their first touch

edited October 2011 in General Charlton
After Kermit's heroics today I was wondering which other Charlton players have come on as a sub and scored with their first touch.

The only other one I can think of is Mark Bright, 98/99 season at home to Newcastle, 2-0 down having lost the last 8 or so games, he came on, scored with a header and we eventually made it 2-2.

Any others?

  • I thought brighty scored on his first touch against sheff utd. It was a televised match
  • Was it Sheff Utd? I was sure it was Newcastle. I may have got my stripes mixed up though
  • Definitely Newcastle.

Had another header just after which crossed the line but wasn't given.

Martin Pringle scored  to equalise 2-2 and Martin Tyler pulled out a line that shows why he's the best commentator in the game - "JUSTICE IS DONE AT THE VALLEY!!"
  • Konchesky against Nowrich i think. When we beat them 4-0 a few years ago.
  • Ah my bad. I thought he came on and scored a header from a corner against sheff utd on tv when we were 2-0 down. Maybe he did but wasn't his first touch
  • That televised Newcastle match was one hell of a game.

0-2 down, Brighty's goal, Pringle's equaliser and a very young Spotty Parker coming on as sub.
    Kevin who ....?
  • I think Charlie Mcdonald did, long time ago so cant remember who against

Cup game against Queers Park Rangers. Winner.

    League game against Newcasssssle. Equaliser.
That shit Shearer sent off, red card. Rescinded on Monday morning, naturally.

It pays to have friends at the FA.
  • Jim Melrose against West Ham in 1987.

Are you talking about the 9 second goal at Upton Park?
I'm pretty sure Melrose took a touch before scoring. I might be wrong though.

    Oh, and he wasn't a substitute. :-p
