It's the first time in ages that i dont fear conceding or going behind. i have so much faith in this team that, they always give their all. ive seen four away wins now and felt all along that they'd come out on top. their collective team spirit must be sky high.
On course for breaking a record from 1927,thats not bad going for his first shot at being a manager.
He just oozes confidence and he has a very calm way of getting his point across to the players, they would do anything for him,no matter what and thats a great gift to have..and we have him.
And there'll still be people who think we should have kept Parkinson who's now gone Played 5, won 0 at Bradford....
I think that's a spurious argument. Parkinson would probably have done better for us with more money at his disposal. And, as for the squad he has at Bradford, I have no idea if he is doing that badly.
That's not to say, of course, that Powell has put together a good squad that seem to play for each other.
I think there are some, and I include myself with those, who felt Parky did a decent job with what he had. We will never know but as he best knew the limitations within the squad, he may have done better last season with a bit of backing. Having said that- I also supported the appointment of Powell and with hindsight, I doubt many managers could have made the transformation he has (it really is impressive the way he has gone about transforming the team). Could teh baord have known he would be this good!! If so, they have to be applauded, if not ,nothing wrong with being a bit lucky. About time we had some luck!
It has worked out for the best clearly, but I still think it is wrong to be too critical of Parky - He isn't Pardew.
Yes Parky laboured on under tricky circumstances, but I doubt he would have so ruthlessly cast out all of the players that he'd recruited (& let's not go down that road again, eh?). We wish him well, but we're glad we moved on.
Some 70s parallels maybe? Theo Foley clearly had some qualities - recruited some Valley legends, got us scoring goals. But we had to move him along to start turning things around
What's this about best start for ten years or record brealing since 1927. In my books, counting 3 points for a win, we NEVER managed a total of 24 points after ten games and obviously never 27 points after 11 games. This is an all-time record breaking debut.
to be fair Adrian, a point against MKDons at their place is a very very good point. A point at Sheffield United would've been another really good point, but we got all 3. We have dropped (only) 4 points at home. Those 4 points have been made up for because of our performances on the road. IMO our start to the season has been top class.
I think our away form will be better than our home form this season.
At home, teams will sit back and it's always hard to break teams down when they play like this.
Away, teams will come out and attack and I think we will pick off a lot of teams away from home this season. I predict a big score like 4-0 in an away game this season.
It is as people say way to early to predict promotion and as a Charlton fan I am always expecting us to falter somewhere. However, this is an totally new team and backroom staff so it has got rid of every bit of dead wood and I just feel the team is fresh and Powellys approach to each game has been spot on.
There are plenty of hurdles ahead for us - these include how we perform on heavier grounds, how many injuries we get, whether players in key positions get suspended, whether we hit a bumpy patch and whether other teams will be more affected by these things. Great start, but early days.

I think we're in great shape and Powell is exceeding my expectations. Whether that means we'll go straight up, I don't know. If we keep playing like this, we will and with our squad we're probably less threatened by injuries and suspensions than other sides. But if Hollands or BWP got a bad knock I'm not sure I'd still be so confident.
It's a tough league; I agree with Jake's contenders and MK/Sheff U/Brentford won't be a million miles away so there'll be a good side that don't even get into the playoffs.
looking good so far, have to say I'm impressed with the results if not some of the actual play at times, some areas to improve on, squad still a bit light perhaps outside the first 11

And Powell doing great.

I think we have a brilliant squad too. I don't think there's a scapegoat really. If we lose a game, I know I won't be calling for someone's head.
Our first team is class, but having the likes Green, Kermorgant, Pritchard and Cort in reserve means we have great depth.
FAR too early to consider promotion. The season has barely started.
Great start, hard not to get too carried away, which isn't a bad thing at all!

Boo, can't you just let us get carried away :-)
We've had an unbelievable start, but we could lose BWP, Morrison and Jackson for a few months through injury and where would we be then?
I think we've got a real chance this season, but I'm not getting carried away thinking we're already up.
