How many of you think we can stay up?I know Pards has turned things around but is it too late for us or can we get out of it?I personally think it's too late but i think Alan Pardew is the best man to get us straight back up.
Personally I've said that if we are relying on other team's results to keep us up then its over. Effectively that's where we are now. However, we do have a useful run in that will give us the opportunity to win some points. That, and the heavily rose-tinted specs I am wearing, suggest the fat lady hasn't sung yet.
Personally I think we have little or no chance of avoiding the drop. It is just too unrealistic to expect a team in our current form to win 6 games out of 10. Even if, by some miracle, we managed that we have still got to catch 2 out of West Ham, Wigan & Sheffield Utd. These teams all have better squads than us and are all starting to show some fight themselves.
If we beat West Ham we have a chance as it will give the team confidence for the remaining games which are winnable, and whether it is beating relegation or trying for promotion it is the teams with confidence that comes through.

It does seem unrealistic for a team to more than double it's win total in just 10 games - I realised that when I was writing it, but given those 'decent' fixtures, the current upturn in performance, the improved spirit and the impending return of 3 of our best players, there is a slight chance (very slight, actually).
They are going to have to be a perfect 4/4 against West Ham, Wigan, Watford and Sheffield Utd for a start..
It's a big ask. Think there's a slim chance, but important thing is to show some fight and get some steel and spirit back in the team, which Pards is doing. Then if we do go down, we'll be in good shape to bounce straight back. Will still be gutted if/ when it happens...
As it stands at the moment, we just need 2 wins more than Wigan.
If we beat Wigan at home then we need one more win than Wigan.
All conjecture, I know - but if you start saying we need a minimum 40 points or 6 wins, it's easy to create a psychological mountain and that can be self-defeating.

The ten games sandwiched in between aren't that bad..
West Ham (H)
Watford (A)
Newcastle (H)
Wigan (H)
Man City (A)
Reading (H)
Everton (A)
Sheff Utd (H)
Blackburn (A)
Tottenham (H)
Win six and lose four out of those and we're on 38pts. Will it be enough? I reckon it will.
There's obviously very little room for error, but the 4 points gained at Pompey and Bolton have given them a chance. Albeit a slim one.
Sorry.
Watford/ Charlton and Palarse's recent play off promotions are a good example of that-
