  • Thought BWP looked a bit disinterested today if im honest, not up to his usual standards. Yes I know he scored.

Really fustrating how we sit back so much but on another day it could have been 5 or 6-0

  • Thought our set plays have improved a lot.
This - lots of variety in our corners in the first half, whipped in near post, far post, and floated. Really mixed it up well.
  • Posting before reading.

We really dominated the first half although, to their credit, Chesterfield kept plugging away and didn't crumble. Jackson looked dangerous and his goal was excellently worked and well deserved.

In the second half it was more of the same sitback, sit back some more and let Chesterfield play. We weren't helped by a referee who appeared to have a real downer on Waggy for some reason and ignored a blatant foul on him which led to their penalty and resulting goal. Either the ref had us down for a draw on his coupon this week or Waggy has some dodgy pictures in his possession! I can't see any other reasons!

It was therefore sweet that the one real bit of quality we produced in the second half was an excellent move finished off with a fine low cross from Waggy which Bradley clinically put away with a diving header.

Three more points and still top of the league. If we can pick up something from MK Dons and Sheffield United I think I'll start to believe we really can do it.

Last point. Kermit looked good in his short cameo I thought.

  • What about that first touch from Hamer when he took the ball from the backpass out of the air with ease in the first half? Drogba would've been proud of that.
  • We look really good at corners for once.
  • I have thought we have looked better at corners and free kicks this season than in the past 3
  • I thought Waggy dived - sorry!

    That was class you're right.

In fact Hamer impressed me al round today (and against Exeter).  I had my doubts initially after the Sheffield Wednesday game.

    what one ; )
  • Brilliant, off to Sheffield next week with my youngest son COYR!!!!!

  • Another game I really enjoyed.

Complete control, let's let the other team score and then step up a gear.

Third goal was quality and the new Frenchman looks as though he could have something about him.

Wiggins my MOM, getting better & better.

  • That's the point I made in the 2nd half Mac, it seems to take a goal to wake us up again. Obviously it's reassuring to know we can step it up again, but it's something that needs addressing.

    I WANT IT PERFECT!!
  • Danny Wilson's comment after their loss to Wycombe today: We completely dominated from start to finish, so we're going to be disappointed of course. But we'll take the frustrations out next week against Charlton

When they play they are leagues apart - when they sit off the game is more even (young team - the message will get through soon enough). Liked the way they managed to go up the gears again after the Chesterfiled goal - Charlton teams past would have panicked. Special mention to ref and East Stand Lino - You were TERRIBLE -sorry pointless shouting, they were blind not death. If you don't give a penalty for the foul on Taylor- well you might as well do something else on a Saturday (booking him was the icing on the insult cake). Lino couldn't tell if ball was in or out - gave ball that was a yard out as in and a ball that was a yard in as out. Foul on Waggy  for their goal was missed but think overall them scoring got us to buck up our ideas and we were pretty comfortable after that and should have got a few more.

Good, pin that comment up on the dressing room wall, no pre match speech needed

he falls over far too much.

    Refs know him now
  • Danny WIlson is a manager who will always talk up his side- makes sense too but Wycombe aren't world beaters and the stats on BBC suggested a closer game - think the stats showed us having about 26 shots today btw.
  • Sorry to spoil the "Love In" but I do have to try to live up to my username:

Scott Wagstaff got fairly tackled and lost the ball, then laid on the pitch...within 30 seconds Chesterfield got a penalty. At No stage did He call a  trainer/Doctor/magic sponge man on. Even when the C'field players were argueing about who takes the penalty He was still in their half. IF He wasn't "injured", got up and chased back He might have even stopped the ball getting into the penalty area. Just My opinion.

Was fouled IMO but I will concede a lot of refs wouldn't have given a foul.
  • Is there a link for that MOG?

    Looking for it JT !
Seriously, I thing Waggy is a great part of our team, but thought He let the side down then.
  • Like others have said, I don't understand what happens at half-time. Think we just take our foot of the pedal, but after the penalty we upped our game which is nice to see.

Surprised Solly is not getting more plaudits, absolute class act and hope the bbc highlights show hes (intentional) sliced pass to waggy which started of the move for the third goal.

Whats Solly song ? Heard it in the first half but not again ?

  • Does today's result mean we can look forward to a run of our operations actually being successful? If so, roll on the next one.
  • Get in there!!!!!!!!! Great game today!!!!!! Good goals from us especially our third, thought the pen was harsh after one of our players looked to have been fouled and was still on the ground when the pen was given.

Very pleased overall, especially the fact that we're now 3 points clear at the summit after Blades lost at Wycombe!!!!!!

Now about the south stand incident, well I was actually in A-block in the East stand sitting 3rd row from pitch right by the big screen. What it looked like was some sort of disorder happened, Charlton fan getting escorted out by stewards and home south stand fans having to be moved. I didn't see those fans again despite maybe me missing them coming into the East stand, but that's as much as I know about it or think I know about it. Could someone correct me if what I've said is wrong, but as close as I was to the incident, that was what looked like had happened.

    "We've got Chris So-olly, he's f***ing quality....."

Same as Chris Perry song a few years ago.
  •

    We were brilliant.
  • We can't play flat out for 90+ minutes. Not many teams can. So after a dynamic first half we sit back and take a bit of a rest and then come on strong later in the game. Point is we don't defend as well as we attack.

  • BTW, p*ssed off that Hayes is the "whipping boy" this seaon: Just watch His effort and chasing, and ask BWP if they can play together.
  • I will say more when soberer (yes I know that isn't a word) tomorrow, but I will just say that we looked on another planet to Chesterfield today.

Chris Solly is looking like the best right back in the league.

First half was best I have seen for a long time, although did not think BWP was at his best and his 1st touch let him down.  From about 12th to 15th minute CFC could not get out of their own penalty area let alone half.  As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, Hayes plays a brilliant 1st touch and then an awful one.

I agree BWP was poor today I've never seen him give the ball away so much! I suppose I can forgive him for being the best striker in the division and still getting his goal.

I also think that Solly is fast becoming my favourite player, he is hard as nails that lad

Really enjoyed the day and hope we can get a couple of results in the coming week. Also good to be able to give some Millwall fans and Palace some slipper, could we replace Millwall next year lol
