Serious Situation!

edited February 2007 in General Charlton
I work for a local IT company in Sidcup.

You will be pleased to know my number 2 is also a land and sea charlton Lifer.

However we have a Spurs fan who works with us, he wants to leave the life of sales to work with the techies!! (so he can laugh and joke about windows XP and PC upgrades...)

Now thats all good getting rid of the spud, but I have interviewed a guy today and he is also a Spuds fan (season ticket holder)

Now we usually do well against the Spuds so abusing him after a win would be great.....but should I take that chance?

  • So - let me get this right - you work for an IT company, in sales - and you're denigrating the Spuds fan because he wants to go and work in IT and earn a real, honest, decent living?

Hiring another Spuds fan is the least of your worries mate...

Being a Spurs fan, he deserves better. You should offer him your job where he can see an attractive pay cheque, which is his right and always has been as history points out.
  • Employing a bloke on what Club he supports, mmm toughie not quite sure how many Human Resources rules you would be breaking by enforcing this, however my suggestion would be in the interview mention the fact that you are a Charlton fan, see what his initial reaction is. You should be able to tell if he is gonna be a good work colleague or a condescending P***from that or not.
  • Hire him.

Aftrer a couple of days sitting next to Hillsy Up warbling on about 'different gravy', 'mustard' and 'TAXI', he'll wanna leave already....
  • guy has to be a good fit in the team though...
  • Leroy,

Its just a little bit of fun...dont take it to heart!
  • Hillsey the reason behind 4 people leaving already....oh forgot to mention his bird is a Charlton fan...which is all good!

That's harsh. The bloke that walked out on Friday was a gooner......and had no staying power. I'm sure the reason for him leaving was legitimate and nothing to do with the abuse he recieved across the desk on a daily basis. Things like "engerland engerland engerland" "Rule Britannia" and "your just a small team from woolwich"!!
