  • I'm confused, all the defence apart from Francis played reasonably well but the reason we were poor was the long ball forward. Who was lumping it?
I thought the reason we lumped it was because the midfield were ineffective

You'll probably find the reason we lumped it, was because the defence and consequently the midfield played too deep - and the forward pairing frequently became isolated.
  • Sullivan - 5 - few good saves but kept giving posession straight back to PNE, didn't find a red shirt all game

Francis - 1 - Finding it hard to think of any positives, at fault for first goal, gave away atleast another 3 or 4 goal scoring oppurtunities to PNE just in the first half, not sure he's even worth a 1 out of ten

Doherty - 6 - Solid but again hoofball was prevalent

Cort - 6 - looked solid won everything in air, tried to play out occassionally

Evina - 7 - Looked good, wanted it and with his pace every mistake he made he could recover

Green - 5 - Really didn;t help out frances what so ever in first half, begining of second looked alight but clearly not fit

Pritchard - 7 - Really like this guy would happily see him in the first team if dale stephens drops his form

Hughes - 5 - first ten or so min thought he looked compossed, then PNE tuned up and walked by him at will

Bover - 5.5 - Nice close control and trickary but needed help out on left

Euell - 5 - How he doesn't understand the offside rule by now is beyond me

Benson - 4 - Did he touch the ball more than 2 or 3 times in the first half? Didn't win one header, no close control

Mambo - 6 - Clearly a CB playin at RB but still a massive immprovement on Frances, has deff improved his awareness, needs good run of games somewhere though

Wagstaff - 7 - Clearly showed he was the only first teamer

Now it looks little harsh on the team as a whole as (other than waggy and euell) none have had any game time since Reading. Also that Reading game being early they were all alot more match fit having had a good preseason with all of them playin regularly. Even though we were comprehensivly beaten I honestly believe if we'd had 3 first teamers in the starting line up (still less than PNE had) we would have atleast drawn possibly won that game.
  • To Brunello; hy I gave Evina 4 was because he with Francis was the most guilty of hoof the ball up field and hope. But most times it went staright to a Preston player. Also was poor in other areas of defence and his free kicks where poor. But most others where bad at free kicks last night.
  • Thought Evina looked quite promising as well. Mistakes yes but he was positive and looks a good addition to the squad. Not going to dislodge Wiggins at the moment though.

Green was the real disappointment for me. Not chance of dislodging Waggy at the moment and hope it's just an off night after his illness.

Prichard is a really impressive player for the jump from non league.

Cort has the edge over Doherty. Thank God for that. If Doherty was still our number 1 choice at centre half we would be half way in the table.

Francis - you guys are hard. Bad performance most certainly but his confidence is shot. Time to move on for both parties and I hope he can find a club in the January transfer window or out on loan before then. Never worked out for the two Southend guys here. They just aren't good enough for League One.

Mambo - needs to get loaned out and player in his proper position. He is no right back so can't blame him too much for getting torn to pieces a couple of times.

Hughes - Solid enough. Can see why he is on the bench now. Not a first team starter when our current back line and midfield are fit.

Bover - some promising touches but did get lost a bit at times.

Sullivan 6 Not as good as Hamer , hope he gets another opportunity in the JPT

Francis  5 Probably the last game for Charlton , disappointed me because I was pleased with his Reading performance and think he is a good player

Doherty 7 I like Doc and he had a sound game.

Cort 7 Another old head , for this level we have 4 good cb's

Evina 7.5 Looks good going forward and has pace to recover from mistakes and cover for Cort and Doc personally prefer Wiggins as a left back though , I agree he is worth a place on the bench as a versatile left sider.

Green 5 Disappointing but wasn't really fit , maybe shouldn't have started

Pritchard 6 Average maybe should go on loan to get games at League level

Hughes 6 A good squad player for us

Bover 6.5 Moments of genuine quality , but not there yet

Euell 6 Not his best game

Benson 6 Clearly not match fit

Mambo 5.5 He is not a right back and was at fault for the second goal , though I do not hold him responsible because Francis needed to be subbed

Wagstaff 7 Played well would have been MOTM if played a full game

Popo n/a Good to see a youngster come on

  • Sullivan 6 looked dodgy at times and great at others

Francis 5 not bothered at all. should have done better with their 1st goal

Cort 6 average back up man

    Doherty 6 shaky at times

Evina 7 very good again and very quick. Hope he gets a start in the league soon

Green 6 showed flashes of what he is capable of. not match fit

Pritchard 6 unlucky not to score but has got nothing on Hollands and Stephens

Hughes 6 O.k but really didn't do much

Bover 6.5 I like him and think he's going to be great in the future. Powell should put him on the bench for League games and give him a chance

    Euell 5.5 Not bothered

    Benson 5 not match fit

mambo 5.5 not a right back

Waggy 6.5 A great impact player
