My son for his birthday wants to go to a London for his 23 birthday with his girlfriend.
Would like central London, something that is contemporary and 4* plus.
£2-300 price bracket. Anyone suggest a decent hotel  for a young couple.
thanks

  • plenty in London I'm sure, but if he fancies something a bit different, the try the Zanzibar Hotel in Hastings, check out the 'Manhattan' suite.....it's the nuts.

need to google it as I'm crap with links
  • The Hoxton Hotel is supposed to be pretty good, but I've never stayed there.

I've done a few weekends at various Radisson Edwardians as an ex was cabin crew so she got reduced rates.  Don't stay at the one in the Canary Wharf as it's feels like it's in the middle of nowhere.  The May Fair is nice though.

St Martins Lane or Sanderson are contemporary in style but not everyones cup of tea, and probably a bit large to be considered boutique. Soho Hotel, Charlotte Street and Covent Garden hotels are a modern take on that traditional British style and very nice.

Get him to have a look at Mr&Mrs Smith website and see what he likes best

  • Thanks for the help........
I will pass on the comments.
  • I know it is not in the specification of London BUT................. pellirocco in Brighton fits the rest of it. Durex room maybe?

The Zetter is nice. Not stayed myself but have had people stay there.
Plus you're in Clerkenwell so easy for west end and shoreditch. Or just stay in Clerkenwell, nice bars & restaurants nearby.
  • The MayFair hotel.

    Highly recommend it.
  • Thanks for all the advice........
The Mr and Mrs Smith site had some wonderful places, the Sanderson and St Martins Lane are very pricey. I went to the Sanderson for a magazine launch once, and the St Martins for lunch, bit too minimalistic for me, the bare bulbs in the dinning room, and no name seemed to take it a bit far. The food was ok, but nothing special, but it was 10 years ago.
The Baglioni,Soho hotel, and Hoxton seemed to be the favourite, but in the end it was the Cumberland.
They got a great deal, and liked the idea of being in the westend, with the bars and cinemas shops.
Going to try the Rhodes restaurant, if they can get a  reservation.
They are going to check out the Jimi Hendrix suite, for me, although jimi was interviewed there by Keith Altham, very near his death, he died in the garden flat at the hotel Samarkland Notting Hill Gate, and lived in Brook Street with Cathy Etchingham when in London , so a little 'licence' taken there.......

The Ned is good... nice bars and restos in there and a rooftop pool bar. Slightly out of London but the Crazy Bear in Breaconsfield is good, really quirky

Been looking at The Ned, reviews don't seem great though.

I was in the Ned box at the o2 on Saturday for madness, the Ned itself is better in the members area than the public bars imho

I've drank in Zetter on a few occasions. Great cocktails, like an old granny's lounge.

I go for a wizz in most of them so can recommend a lot of the bogs

If its boutique you're looking for The mandrake is one of the newer ones on Newman street. Ham Yard Hotel just off of haymarket. W Hotel on wardour Street. The marylebone on wellbeck Street has just had a refurb and was very impressed as I walked through the bar are to get to the toilets. The Edition on Berners Street.
