  • Richard Lee is the best goalkeeper in the league
  • funny that a number of you have picked Dean Lewington at LB, he will be chuffed when he finds out btw, because when we looked liked we could sign him a couple of years ago the verdict on here was that he was crap. That didn't impress him !!
  • interesting everyone putting green as RM (I agree). he doesn't even start for us so interesting waggy hasn't been mentioned

  • I'm surprised people are saying Rob Jones. He's tall but that's about
it. He's also immobile and is dreadful with the ball at his feet. The
fact we didn't expose him more at The Valley is testament to how
unintelligent our second half performance was, putting the ball on his
head every attack. There are going to be comedy moments at the back for
    Sheff Weds this year
  • GK- Jalal (Bournemouth)

    RB- Butler (Walsall)

    CB- K Pearce (Notts County)

    CB- Legge (Brentford)

    LB- Lewington (MK Dons)

    RM - Wagstaff (Charlton)

    CM - Hollands (Charlton)

    CM - Bean (Brentford)

    LM - Barcham (Scunthorpe)

    ST - Bowditch (MK Dons)

    ST - Wright-Phillips (Charlton)

  • BWP, he would be a top Championship striker at least if it weren't for his knee
  • It's interesting that some of you say Dale Stephens. We didn't see much of him at St. Mary's last season, but when we did he looked calm on the ball and was always looking to pass, he certainly was promising but we didn't have too much to judge him on. I suspect he was a target for Adkins before Jack Cork became available.

Good to see BWP is doing well for you guys, he's someone who gets mixed reports from his days at Saints. I personally liked him majority of the time and was disappointed that he left as I knew he would score goals at this level. The experience he will gain from League One will probably help him the next time he's in The Championship.
  • People have gone Smithies mad because nodody really knows who the best keeper is so when one picks him they think, he must be good I'll have him to. Too may poisitions to pick from - better to keep it as the thread originally asked- who is the best player. I think we have a few candidates which is very positive but I reckon BWP has to be up there.

Agree. Thought he looked like a massive donkey the other day in the first half. Only looked comfortable when we started putting it on his head

2 blatant fouls that the ref missed when he was beaten for pace -which probably identifies his weakness. Can't rely on refs not understanding football every game. Like the Doc, he can head them out to the cows come home.

  • BWP seems to be the most popular choice here! Brilliant that we have a 20 goal a year striker. :)

the other night MS thought if it wasn't for his dodgy knees he'd be playing in the Premiership. I tend to agree.

Well, if he hadn't failed a medical at Reading last January, he'd be playing at least Championship.

    PS: Thought to ponder :
his proposed £300,000 transfer to Reading was scrubbed; suppose Reading had taken a gamble with BWP's fitness (as Charlton subsequently did)..........would he have scored  the goals to win Reading promotion to the Prem last season?

Reading must have asked themselves the same question!
