Posting on opposition forums.

edited September 2011 in General Charlton
Don't really know what to think of it apart from that it doesn't appear to be the greatest of ideas. I've always looked out for the likes of 'Visiting Pie' and 'Saints Fan'  on here in the past, both seem to give constructive views and comments. Yet, i've just looked at the Wednesday forum and seen that a few Addicks have posted, with them either giving it some or apologizing for their fellow fan's post. The former is beyond me (though I did find one post quite entertaining) in that why bother? The latter makes it worse as, in this case, labelling other Charlton fan's (plural) wankers seems to gives us fans a bad image.
I know every club has its section of support that are looked upon sometimes with disdain by other supporters, but broadcasting it on another club's forum is pointless imo.
Does anyone on here post regularly (or atleast come a relevant fixture) on other club's forums? I've wanted to in the past, but i'd be a little unsure as to the reception I would receive!

  • I admit to checking them out now and then, especially if they're about to/have just played us. Wouldn't go as far as actually signing up to any of them though.
  • What's the problem, so long as the visiting fans behave themselves?
I regularly post on dozens of opposition forums, as well as quite a few Spurs ones.
In fact, the reason I'm on here in the first place goes back to the recent FA Cup game between Spurs & Charlton Athletic.
  • Wanker.

  • Dont bother even looking nowadays.
Most forums get dominated by a few self opinionated people, who know more about the universe than Stephen Hawkings.
Topics rapidly degenerate down to "my dads bigger than yours", politics, race or religion.
This site has quite a sensible bunch of posters although there are a few strange ones. All down to the admin giving up their time keeping things in order.
  • Whatever happened to Charlton Dan?  The daddy of all Charlton keyboard warriors.
  • Always enjoyed and appreciated fans of other clubs contributing on here. It helps provide a different view. We just adopt the very simple rule, the sensible ones get welcomed, those that want to engage in childish banter don't, and won't last very long.
  • Only read other forums when they are linked to on CL. Other than that I'm not really interested in what they have to say.
  • Occasionally visit other fans' forums, but usually only in response to something posted on here in the first place.

Have never posted on them, but the better ones can show a reasonable if different point of view.
Likewise, I welcome other clubs' fans on here ...... if they've got something reasoned or friendly to say.

It's what makes the world an interesting place.
  • I don't post on other teams forums but do like to read their views on us.
I quite liked the oppositions view that was part of the match preview at the beginning of last season. was it too time consuming to continue?

I liked this too. It's nice to see what the opposition think of us.

  • As long as nobody is there just to wind the other side up I don't see a problem. I seem to recall an opposition fan coming here and posting a video of one of their goals against us last season. Wasn't done to wind us up but to settle an argument that we were having over whether Robbie was to blame for the goal. Very helpful of him as it was taken from behind the goal, a perspective none of us would have seen.

    Exactly the same.
