I love him. Interesting what he said about finding all about the players characters before signing them. Exactly what made us successful in the past under Curbishley, would love Chrissy Powell to do half as well..... did I say I love him?

He is a great man indeed, and that was a really refreshing article. There is some real excitement around at the moment, I for one am going to enjoy it as much as possible. I'm going on Holiday on Sat for the first time in a few years and I'm really excited about that, but I'm going to be a bit gutted I'm missing a couple of home games, but hey ho I'm gonna be in Kos trying to keep up with results. 3 points for Monday please Mr Powell.
Curbs always emphasised that the character of the player was a key factor when he decided whether or not to bring them in - Chrissy is an intelligent bloke and i'm sure he has picked things up from all the managers he has worked with but also has his own ideas. I'm looking forward to a long and successful future with him.
It is sad that there are not more black managers but if you count the number of clubs who have had a black manager at some point I don't think there is a lot of racism in the game- the numbers will go up and down but successful black managers will send a positive message to potential black managers and for me that is the biggest factor that will imrove the ratio. Chrissy's responsibility is to himself though, not his colour. He does his job and the rest will follow.
Proberly the best article on charlton for many a season and the first article I can remember where the majority of what has been written is about the problems we have faced as a club and where it all has gone wrong, but with a plan of how to fix it, and the way it is being looked at root and branches,
Pardew tried to do one similar but looked at what messages where at the ground and training ground, never mentioned the squad or mental attitude of the players that were signed ,
Seems to me like when we signed Di canio and curbs showed him the centenery dvd ,
We have a manager and set of players pulling the same way and that way is up up up up
I have always loved Chris Powell and now I love him a big bit more , never have I wanted a manager to do well more at our club gets this right and it will be all down to him and the vision of the new owners .
I'm very impressed with his management and football ideals. This bit here could have come straight out of Curbishley's mouth: "I have spoken to people who have played with them, coached them, managed them. I know about their characters, that they will buy into what we are doing. You have got to do due diligence, it's a must."
As Keith Peacock said when he was first appointed, "he has always been successful at everything he has done in football". Of course there must have been times when things were going badly, but he has always had the determination and the intelligence to get to the top. Still early days and no doubt he will make mistakes along the way, but to make the number of changes that he has made in such a short period and to get us playing in a completely different style, says alot about the man. He's been incredibly bold and decisive and I believe his attitude to football and life is infectious and this is permeating throughout the squad and being reflected in the performances on the pitch.
I have unconditional love for him forever , no matter what happens , he has a giant heart and it's in the right place (CHARLTON ATHLETIC FOOTBALL CLUB)
What a great article and what a great man. What Red Robin said gives me great confidence that we have some very astute people at the club who have thought about the right way to do things and then carried off their plans to the letter.
Undoubtedly there will be bumps in this long road back to success, but I have no doubt that we will get there in the end.
It also supports my theory that Powell and Slater decided this approach quite soon after he arrived, and word leaked out about it to the squad - hence the end of season slump. Subconsciously, most of the players knew they were not really wanted. At the time it was worrying, but let's hope it all works out for the best in the longer run - in Chris we trust!

Agree. Thought that at the time.
I think Powell learnt a lot from his mistakes last season (every manager makes mistakes) which should set him in good steed for the years to come.
I think the key point is that he says we havent lost yet and we have to see how he and the team responded to that. They did well enough when behind at Bury, though.

I was told this in March by someone who posts on this board and at the time although I thought it was probably kosher I could not bring myself to believe it was true because it seemed a bit naive of Powell/Slater to basically write off the final quarter of the season like that.
As things turn out it looks like the poster concerned was 100% spot on. Does he have any tips for the 3.45pm at Epsom?

This.
And I hate that saying. I'm sending this article to the yanks at work Monday and I reckon ill bring at least five for football for a fiver.
Bloody great man Chris Powell.
Yes, but not in capital letters.

Would it be nitpicking to suggest this is untrue when you look at the list of transfers at the end of the article?
He really is a lovely bloke :-D
This article shows to me that SCP and the club did not want to keep Semedo and maybe we did not offer him anything at all.
