Green and Wagstaff linked up superbly last night so I think Powell should drop Hayes and do this:
BWP
Wagstaff
Midfielders Green
No...
With respect I see Hayes as being the most important part of our attacking strategy, and probably the most undervalued. We have plenty of players who can take shots on goal and who can score goals, but we need someone to hold the ball up and bring them into play. That's Hayes's job.
I'd just like Powell to try it out as I respect the fact that Wagstaff can't hold up the ball and Hayes can but it'll be good to try it out
Powell did try it out...................on Tuesday, against Reading. He will already know that it gives a great option, a Plan B.
And probably more useful against tiring sides later in the game.
I know he did as I was there but I want to see it done with our starting midfield
Leave the squad as it is. We have @ least 24 top players for this divison and many will be effective in a higher division. Currently, morale looks good. Too many players could causes discontent in the squad. All positions are covered. Mambo looks to have come of age at centre back, up front Wagstaff and Euell are proven scorers in case all the almost paranoic concerns over Wright-Phillips come to pass and I have rarely known us to be so strong in midfield. This is Addicks fan heaven at last.
If necessary we can strengthen at Christmas. Let this team settle in and really show what they have got.
