Charlton, Millwall & Crystal Palace - All playing at home - same day/time ...!

edited August 2011 in General Charlton
All playing tonight in C Cup.  All at home - k/o same time.  This must be a first!  Didn't think the police would allow this!

  • Yeah, I noticed that!  Although I think Palace are starting 15 minutes earlier, according to the BBC anyway.

Thats because they have to be in bed early!
  • Probably only allowed due to the expected small crowds and not sure Morecombe Reading and Crawley fans are considered particularly high risk.
  • Watch yourself MrOneLung, or the Morecambe firm will be all over us.
  • can't see huge crowds at any of them tonight, especially if this weather keeps up!

according to the Reading board they've sold 700 tickets so far
  • I didn't notice that. The two Bristol's got split up though. West Ham are also playing tomorrow. The Met can't hack all four games on the same night.

    No boobs here.
  • This actually happened last season or the season before last! Can't remember the exact date but I remember talking about it to a mate!
  • Crawley are taking around 2k to Palace but Millwall might as well be home fans only, can't imagine Morecambe will have any more than about 50 at the Den
  • Can't see millwall having more than 50 at the den either.

  • @BR7_addick Pretty sure that we were at home to Brighton the same day that Palace were home to Millwall last season - I remember this because I remember being very surprised that the police had sanctioned that combination on the same day.
  • Mr Largo. That's right. I was travelling via London Bridge with a couple of 8 year olds and remember feeling a bit anxious.
  • us and Palace are normally at home on the same days, alternately to the nice chaps from the Den

very unusual for us and Millwall to both be at home but as stated above hardly high-risk fixtures

what are people's predictions for the crowds?

    I'll go:
Palace 6k (boosted by the 2k away fans)
    CAFC 5k
    Millsmall   3.5k
  • Make Kinveachy pretty accurate for Scumwall and Palace.
  • Based on 700 advance away sales reported above, with a few more on the night, I'm going to predict 7k. Been getting nearly 5k for home JPT games the last couple of years I think, and I personally am looking forward to this with a reasonable amount more anticipation than I have done for the past few years when we've been playing so-called lesser teams at this stage. Quite interested to see how we much up against a non-pub team.

Crawley not high risk? They're a mini millwall in red shirts!

I know a few fans, they aspire to being hated as much as Millwank!
  • Crawley and palace scuffle at three Bridges train station! It's not even 6 o'clock yet!
  • It'll be a battle of the Ultra's at Selhurst Park tonight lol, both teams have a section of fans that call themselves so.  Crawley aren't too bad, a handful at best of little sods that like to play up.  There are a few Chelsea supporters of a certain disposition that live in the area though, can't see them being interested in tonight.

Theres more than a few mate, and a few millwall thrown in

had to change train at three bridges!
  • Surprised at the palace attendance, I thought Crawley would be like us playing Welling and have a bumper crowd.
  • Fair play to the 68 Morecambe die hards!
