Colchester Away

edited August 2011 in General Charlton
The OS doesnt load on my pc for some reason so i would be grateful if someone could provide me with:
  • The price for a 16 year old (inc coach)
  • Coach pick up points and times
Would the train be a cheaper option as i have a railcard and save a third on fares.

Sorry to be a nuisance but its the only way i can view prcies etc :)

  • Thanks ISLS
  • Same happens to me on some sites, try using 'hidemyass'.. the ip blocker. Usually works for me that way
  • Hoping we sell a lot for this but considering its a tuesday I doubt it!
  • school holidays

3 home games in two weeks

    not a new ground

  • I'm working but tempted to take it off to get down there... Never been to the ground...

What's the away night like? Good atmosphere etc?
  • I went when Llera had his mare and we got tonked.  It is a terrible stadium.  Looks like it was put up in a day but at least the viewfrom the away end (behind the goal) is ok.  Parking was a nightmare - in the end cars were being abandoned all over the roads and on roundabouts.  And they ran out of food!
  • I think we have only been given 1000 so we should do that.
  • This figure was based on the number of tickets sent initially - the allocation is 2,000 and I guess we could probably get more if required.

If we start well I would expect a decent turnout - remember Orient a couple of years ago, which just caught fire.
  • Rather shoot myself in the face then go back there

  • I'll be there, 3rd year in a row, seen a defeat, a draw....so by the law of averages !!

go on holiday saturday so it'll be my first game.

Thinking the same, especially on a Tuesday night. When we first went there we were 10 minutes late for kick off due to there being no parking and it being a one way road. Plus they seem a bit of a bogey team for us.
  • parking problems now alleviated by the fact the slip road off the main road has now been opened meaning it's not a manic rush after getting there late. Last time getting out the car park was'nt too bad either as it's straight out of the car park onto the main road.
  • worst ground in the country
  • cheers large ,

i went the first year up there and was 2 miles away with 45 minutes to kick off and missed the first 15 mins and had pre booked  a parking space .... left with 10 mins to go and 3-0 down cos i didn't wanna sit in a monster queue getting away from there

yep, same here. Last time was 100% easier. No  drive round endless roads and roundabouts just off a slip road and you are there. Afterwards it's out the car park and bingo back on the main road (A12 or whatever it is).
  • well that's my excuse not to go gone!

  • Was gonna go to this 1 as I have never been there. Reading some of the comments though I dont know if I should bother!!!
  • Don't let it put you off... any away game is only as good as the beer... and the result too I suppose!
  • 1st visit - Lost 3-0
    Last visit - Drew 3-3?? or 4-4 can't remember
This time - Got to win?

It aint that bad, it is a bit of a nothing souless ground but if you see a win then its all worth it.
  • Its one of those grounds that doesnt bring out the best of the fans atmosphere wise. Usually full of families, which isnt a bad thing, but the noise levels are missing a big edge. Last year for example it was one of the most action packed games of the season, but from the way the majority of our fans sat in silence, you'd have thought that we were playing oldham at home.
  • Would love to being going this year but I'm away. Got a feeling this could be our year to win there.
  • I got lost walking back the first year, somehow.
  • Drove with my Dad from Oxford as we were spending New Year's at my Granparents this year. The atmosphere was poor and despite it being one of the most exciting games of the season. As for the ground, the facilities were nice but it lacked any kind of character and was very boring and metallic. Wouldn't recommend it but it's not bad for £23, especially if you haven't done it before.
