Fair enough really. Still a couple of players short at the moment and Powell still to properly get to grips with management, I would probably have us 3rd/4th if I judged with head not heart at this point in time.

Good bit of business picking that Danny Green up for free though!
  • Sheff Wednesday as 1st - Not for me i think they will struggle again.

    Top 6 according to them:

    1. Sheffield Wednesday
    2. Huddersfield
    3. Preston
    4. CAFC
    5. Sheffield United
    6. MK Dons

Swap the top 2 and put Brentford in there, probably for MK and that's about what's in my head.

Think Shef U are the real unknown quantity, if they don't start well under Wilson and with their young squad there will be a bloody riot up there.
  • Sheffield United won't compete, and not convinced Wednesday have enough going forward
  • I think someone like Chesterfeild will come up and give it a good go and make the top 8.

Can understand your concerns about SU but think SW will sign two or three decent players (they pretty much have to), perhaps starting with ALF
  • can I point out that on there it says we got Danny Green on a free when I'm sure we got him Undisclosed.
  •  Hamer and Hughes aren't there
  • Why will SW win?   They finished below us last year and we've signed FAR better players than they have and Mellor is back at Preston and he got 20 goals for them.    Megson is a dick and no way will they win the league!

    I agree with this

  • I think we got a better chance than last year personally. I can Preston not having a great start but you never know
  • New on here but have read the site for a couple of months, some cracking banter and interesting debates. Just read this sky prediction, not sure the homework has been done properly! Up the addicks and looking forward to Saturday.

If we had Megson rather than Powell in charge with our Players, think we would be a shoe in for Promotion this year. Megson has a reputation for getting teams up, might neccessarily be pretty though.
  • People forget though, Mandaric is at SWFC, Megson is under as much pressure to perform as Powell is!!!
  • MK Dons are dark horses imo. No one is really talking about them but they finished last season strongly, have been there or there abouts for 3 or 4 seasons now and have a settled side.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but i'm not yet convinced we're going to be the League 1 titans some would have us down as. Top 6 seems a realistic prediction, with hopes for maybe more, but we'll have stiff competition.

  • I was rather hoping that opponents will just lay down in front of us.
It would guarantee us the title.
  • If you're Huddersfield, and had two bitter play off experiences, are you sure that won't be a downer for them this season?

BTW hoping the same as Oggy frankly.

  • Sky have done a preview of L1? I'm surprised they know it exists.
  • When you look at the squads then on paper we should be winning this league. Like I said before, PP got us 80+ points two years ago with a vastly inferior squad in a league that also had Leeds and Norwich in it. We should be aiming for 90 this year and that will be enough to win this league.

    Its Charlton though.

  • If all of our new 'players' (and I mean footballers comfortable on the ball - from what I have seen so far) stay fit, i.e. Stephens, Green, Hollands, BWP.... then top 2 is a realistic possibility. Need a solid start, but would rather consistently pick up 2 points per game over the season than worry too much about winning the first 6 on the trot.

  • Wilson, Megson, Brown first to be sacked?
  • I've got a feeling Hartlepool are going to be up there.
