The Cost Of Div One Football

edited August 2011 in General Charlton
Interesting league table of the cost of watching football in Div One.  The North West seems to be the cheapest place to go, apart from the cost of getting there.  Charlton are fifth most expensive according to the survey.

  • not bad for a london-based team
  • Credit to Rochdale, who have the cheapest tickets in the league. Shame on Arsenal who charge £4 just for a pie.
  • Division 3
  • we all know our natural and true position is 5th !
  • £2.20 for a cup of tea at Blackburn, would be cheaper to get drunk!
  • Why are Orient so expensive? Crazy.
  • Two words: Barry and Hearn
  • There's a video montage to go with this which features some early 80s shots of The Valley (at 55 seconds): http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14240765.stm
  • I wonder if the team at Carlisle might re-consider their Programme price?
  • They are saying that its 35 quid for QPR but I read somewhere they want to charge 57 for away fans.  57 quid for that dump... remember not even being able to get downstairs at half time, and only two loos for ladies.

Maybe that's how they can afford to keep up with us in the transfer market? ;-D

...and our beloved Floyd Road is there right at the start of this film - worth 2 minutes of your life to view it
  • ^ that was cool, definitely makes me want to get to the valley more
  • It baffles me that Arsenal have the cheek to charge 100 quid for their cat A games.

Shit football, shit fans no atmosphere, boring club. Players diving around for most of the game.

I would sooner spend that to watch spuds. At least there is some excitement at their games.

  • Annoying that the BBC's 'cheapest day out column' is a combination of the cheapest ticket, programme, pie and tea. Surely the cheapest day out would be to take your own food with you, do without a programme and just the cheapest ticket?! Unless of course it is compulsory on a 'day out' to purchase such items, otherwise your day out doesn't count...
  • Well, I don't buy programmes anymore.

If I feel the need to eat, I grab a bag of chips on my way to the ground.

I have my quota of beer before the match. Half time is spent depositing it in the loo.

    So, apparently i don't have a day out. :-/
  • I think they're actually trying to be helpful. It stops people writing in saying "that wasn't cheap - the pies cost a fiver and the cost of a cuppa was astronomical".

Id say it makes more sense, cant be accused of hiding costs that way

It's the beeb as usual trying to be 'down with the fans' with their flat caps, pies and pints of stout. I'm sure that fans who buy either and/or a cuppa and a pie are in the minority. It's a middle class Hampstead dwelling beebeeceeite conception of 'working class culture' and ,as usual, they are a long way adrift of reality
  • Would have been far more hard-hitting if you chuck in petrol @ 135p a litre or a return rail ticket for £50!
