What is the form with these things ? We have aload of stuff to get rid of and my Sis suggests car boot thing. Books, glass, garden tools, books, cameras, books, china, mags, more books. will need at least two cars to get it all there i think. Not sure if i should include my collection of Das Stormer , antique petrol cans and not yet used burning crosses ?

You will sell most of youir good stuff before the public enter as dealers and other collectors will be there V early too.
Got a friend who goes to one which opens at 9am .
He arrives at 6.30am and sells his best bits by 8am
Then sits back and relaxes with good natured haggling until he is bored and heads off for a liquid lunch
The one at Pedham Place Farm on the A20 is monunentally busy.
No choice. People will haggle over 20p!
GH - I do loads of Military Fairs, the same rules apply to boot fairs.
Try to price all your items, some people are too shy to ask prices, unbeliveable but true.
Know what your minimum price is for each item so when the haggling starts, that way you can say no! Someone else will buy it!
A great trick if you are at a haggling stalemate, lets say you want £8 and the customer wants to pay £7, assuming you can afford to let it go at £7, ask the customer if they want to toss a coin, in my experiance most will agree, ask the customer to call, if you win you get an extra quid, if you dont you still sell for your minimum price.
One of the best parts of these events is the haggling.
Have fun!
Even better if you remember to take your double headed coin!
Burn all your stuff before thinking about a car boot sale. They are not for novices!
i did one once, got there early but wasn't the first. The other stall holders smeled blood and rushed over to see what we had. Before we could even unload they were rummaging through the boot and all the boxes asking how much stuff was. Four things were broken before we even got the boxes out the car.
These people are totally mental, and I for one would never do one again.
If the stuff is valuable sell it on ebay - thats where most car boot stuff seems to come from anyway. Or just give it to a charity shop. Do any else before thinking car boot sale.
