Francis or Solly?

Aah - the crossing specialist. No coincidence they sorted the big screen and tarted up the police box after he left.0

Even the cracked charlton badge was down to him - apparantly one of his crosses bounced back off the Thames Barrier.0

Here's a question who is the best right back in the division?? For me it's probably between these two and Trippier. My Bournemouth fan friends won't shut up about Francis and it looks very much like he will be playing in the premier league next year but in my (totally unbiased) view our Chris is the best..1

Trippier plays in the Prem with Burnley0

And yes I do know he's a left back, but still would probably be a decent argument0 -
Chris Solly is the best in this division, all day long. There has never been a left sided opponent who before a game I thought "Solly might struggle there".
He always finds a way to keep wingers in his back pocket. Not to mention the fact that he is an incredibly intelligent player going forwards.3 -
True that! I was stuck in last year..Garrymanilow said:Trippier plays in the Prem with Burnley

Strange thing is, I always thought that Francis had the makings of a decent player, but we were definately the wrong club for him at the time. Things were going so shit for us that the crowd were almost at the point of wanting someone to fuck up, so they had someone to scream at. Francis is obviously a confidence player and you could see it drain away from him with every game.
The pinnacle was his last 45 mins in the cup (Preston?).
I actually felt for the guy during that game. You could see him completely falling apart on the pitch, almost like he was having a mental breakdown and I got no pleasure in seeing it happen, especially to one of our players.
I for one am glad he's picked himself up and is showing that he's actually a decent player...........4 -
Who's to say the same could happen with Morgan Fox? Seems to get the blame for any goal we let in.

Francis was the worst full back we ever had shocking footballer,
Maybe the coaching was wrong, to blame the fans is not right, if he performed the fans at cafc tolerate poor players in the whole if they put effort in,
The reason they got on his back is because he was woeful

But the reason he was woeful was because he lost his confidence. Which was not just the fans fault but a combination of what was happening at the Club, the poor players he had around him and him getting Pelters from the good folk of SE7.nth london addick said:Francis was the worst full back we ever had shocking footballer,

A prime example of how booing and abusing one of your own doesn't work! In fact, makes it worse!!
Who'd have thought it???7 -
Traore, I thought he was a bit iffynth london addick said:Francis was the worst full back we ever had shocking footballer,

Only thing I thought was good about Mings... Because he's so tall for a Full-Back its not easy to whip a cross over him (Has to be lobbed more) but thats all in my opinion
In terms of Chris Solly you'll see him getting beaten by the winger occasionally but only briefly (Usually if its a player with a lot of pace)... Thing is with Solly he's got great ability to recover and get back so by the time that winger has got to the penalty area, he's once again got Solly to face, because the space is now tighter the attacker cant use his pace again and Solly more than often will win the ball0 -
possibly solly's finest performance was against Cardiff at the end of our first season back in the championship. Bellamy found it impossible against him, and bellamy was no slouch, even at the tail end of his career. There was a moment when they broke and solly was against 3 cardiff players, held his position brilliantly and accelerated and tackled with perfect precision you'd struggle to repeat it with ramos on fifa. I even remember hamer picking up the ball and sprinting to solly like he had scored a goal.ForeverAddickted said:Only thing I thought was good about Mings... francis is the case in point why i will never berate or boo our own individual players ever.2
