  • [cite]Posted By: Ketman[/cite]I think we are the last club that should be complaining about the 'availability' of away tickets. This problem rears it's head twice or three times a season at most at Charlton. Imagine if we had a decent away following & you were basically in a lottery system from week to week as to whether you would even get a ticket! Just be grateful that you can get a ticket 95% of the time.
    totally agree
  • [cite]Posted By: AFKA Bartram[/cite]its all well and good saying 'its only £120' but its ANOTHER £120 on top of your season ticket. If you are a couple then its another £240.

Additional payment is being used as an unfair grading system when it could be replace instead by loyalty.

What if they took half the catering staff away, making it near impossible to get a drink or burger, but opened a seperate outlet with loads of staff you have to pay monthly to use ?

What if they made blocks unrestricted, but said you could pay a premium on top of your season ticket to guarantee your seat ?

Those examples are wrong, and so is having to pay extra to gain a ticket for an away match.

and i usually agree with everything you say!!

Saying that you're paying for VG to get a ticket for away games is wrong because you get more benefits. Its like paying for a premium service, like upgrading to first class on a plane (rubbish example i know).

As well as the ticket priority you get:

    £15 off your season ticket
10% discount from superstore merchandise all year
chance to win loads of cash

plus you're giving money to the club
  • There are only about 2,000 VG members anyway, so even if we all went it's not likely to sell out! I'm with Red_Pete on this one - been in VG from the start, and think it's only right that it conveys some priority. Am going to sit a bit on the fence and agree with Chris too that regular away travellers should also have some advantage - perhaps then you'd stop victimising VG!
  • The loyalty scheme that I suggested gave you points for having a ST, points for each away game AND points for VG.
  • we only have 1,900 tickets

so effectively if every VG went

    it's sold out

  • except there aren't 2000 VG members i think

if only you had some influence to get our views across at board level Henry ;-)

A good idea Henry. Are we likely to see this introduced?

Not this season as, quite rightly, if we start with one set of rules you can't then change mid-season.

They're will be a loyalty scheme but not necessarily this one. There is opposition to my idea but also support. We shall have to see how it goes.
  • [cite]Posted By: AFKA Bartram[/cite]I agree its a rubbish system and needs changing, but the reality is that restricted sales to VG holders account for only a few hundred tickets, not the bulk of allocations. And of those few hundred, the majority would be regular goers anyway.

Its important to remember its the system that is wrong, not the members.

I agree. AFKA for Supporters' Director.

  • Valley gold's ruined Arsenal away last year for me, they'll never do it again.

Just means i'll get down the ticket office as soon as they go on sale to away game die hards such as myself.

That doesn't stop the FA! ;o)
  • OH FOR CHRIST'S SAKE - NOT THIS OLD CHESTNUT AGAIN!

It's always moan moan f-ing moan with some of you bleeders!
  • [cite]Posted By: Chris_from_Sidcup[/cite]So why don't i get priority?

    You do.

    Just behind the Valley Golders.
  • 3 words...GET OVER IT!!
  • Or join Valley Gold if your all that bovverd
  • I do find it strange that we give priority to VG as when it goes on sale initially to VG's only a few hundred are sold and of them at least half, maybe more, are regular away supporters anyway and could also produce the necessary stubs. If this is the case then why antagonise others by continuing with the VG priority. I'm VG but I'd be very happy indeed if the ticket priority incentive was scrapped. Actual support of your team away from home should carry the greatest incentive whether you are VG, season ticket holder or red card holder.
  • JUST LEAVE IT - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD - PURRRRLLLLLLEEEEEAAASSSSSEEEEEEEEE!!!
  • Think everybody has kicked the b*llocks out of the Valley Gold debate don't you think ?

having read this type of thread on numerous occasions zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz i think that large has just made the best point of them all. Surely the people who go away the most, should be rewarded with priorty! easy innit

can you not buy them over the phone then ? Couldn't you fax a copy of your stubs as confirmation you have them ?
  • it says by post or in person Large.

luckily my old man doesnt go to away games really so i can use his VG card ;-)
  • 3 tickets stubs why ?!

You needed 5 for Arsenal which was a weeknight and we didnt have much chance of getting a results.

This game is a Saturday 3pm, Low ticket prices and a relegation battle. Why was it 3 ? Why do people who have been to 3 london away games get the same priorities as people who have been to places like Wigan, Newcaslte, Boro etc.

    ?
  • Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'm going down to the station to spot some trains - much more interesting than this old pony!
  • late afternoon shift clocking in here.
i haven't bothered reading all this thread, so someone else may of said my view.
i joined valley gold when it started. it was set up to help get us back to the valley. soon after we did that i thought job done and pulled out.
imo, what the club should have done/be doing (but obviously wont) is contact everyone in it and tell them that if they want to keep supporting the academy system through this payment/draw then they can do so, but tell them that this doesn't give them priority over away tickets anymore. then set up a (non-draw) priority scheme with 2 or 3 membership tiers. the highest paying members get 1st dibs at away tickets, then 2nd highest etc.
the away season ticket was scrapped because of so little interest (less than 200 i think).if treble that amount were higher tier members then even in the worst case scenario of getting a lower or non-league in the cup they would be virtually guaraunteed tickets.

the time it took me to write this the thread has probably been sunk.
  • I cant believe we have another VG thread, time for a closure methinks.

You're not going to please everyone all of the time but can we please stop the Valley Gold generalising (Chris from Sidcup), it is the single biggest myth in the world ever FACT.

If the Valley Golders have bought more than half the tickets available before they go on general sale it will be the biggest shock since Leaburns hat trick at Ipswich.

Valley Golders sold 400 out of that really popular Reading game that took ages to sell out, and about 600 out of that really popular game Arsenal that took ages to sell out

Im VG and do most aways but wont get priority over VG who has done no aways, not fair maybe, but until the system is changed please dont blame the people in it.
  • BORING now zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  • My point isnt about VG, fair play to them they pay their money they have a bit of priority.

My point is why that someone who has been to more appealing games such as Arsenal, West Ham and Chelsea has the same right to a ticket as someone who has gone to Newcastle, Wigan, Forest, Boro etc etc.
