Cray your obviously not convinced by Dyer , and i have quite a few doubts as well, but Mervyn Day didn't exactly endear himself to the Charlton fans either?
Do you not think our new board would suss him out pretty quick if he wasn't up to it?
Nothing to do with dyer "endearing" to the fans. He left west ham and joined us then the losing run started. He has no real experience at this level etc... I wont go on as its a clean slate this season.
1-1 against aldershot in a friendly who cares. August is when it really starts.

Dyer was here for 3 out of the 4 wins Powell had after being named manager.
The defence worries more than anything at the moment. Not 100% sure either Sullivan or Elliott are up to it. Morrison seems a bit of a liability at the moment, giving away a pen today and being at fault for one or two goals in Spain, with Taylor being injury-prone and having apparently been the 'fourth choice CB at Exeter". So I think at least two new centre-halves are needed. Also agree, at least one, but probably two, new strikers are needed, possibly a loan and a proven League One player if possible.
The only thing I'm annoyed about is I imagine we'll field a different side against Woking. I was looking forward to seeing Taylor and Morrison but odds are I'll get Doc. Oh well. Hopefully we'll get so see Alonso
Some of Brighton's pre season friendlies form this time last season, and we know how that campaign turned out for them. Read into this as much or little as you like, personally I don't think it proves much other than that pre season friendlies don't necessarily give any sort of indication as to how the season will pan out. The link takes you to a report of their loss to Eastbourne, the lineups are at the bottom, showing a very strong brighton 11.
Don't fret about a poor result in a friendly people, keep the faith!
without as many changes as previous friendlies you'd have hoped for a better result but with our reserve goalie in between the posts these things can happen , he's only young
the performances of morrison are a slight worry but as i said before until i see em myself i wont start to panic yet !
i'll be more than happy with benno and bwp up front for every game next year(fitness permitting) cos we'll be guaranteed goals
8 per cent autos 72 per cent play offs 20 per cent chance of getting another crack at the jpt
Its about Fitness, its about putting togeher the team that the bulk of is new, its about looking at what works and what doesnt, its about anything but just winning,
Give 'em a break for crying out loud. Bunch of neurotics on here. It's pre season and the team is still getting to know each other ffs. That's what friendlies in the middle of July are all about.

it is madness fella tbh absolute madness that people read into a pre season friendly in such a way
some of these post are laughable. ITS A FRIENDLY FOR CHRIST SAKES !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was hoping that our fans might give Sir Chris a really good chance this season but somehow i doubt it. I sometimes think some our fans don't deserve a winning team
I was there last night and I really think that there is no need to panic. Aldershot's number 2 was trying to kick lumps out of Green,Bover and others in the first half, so I don't blame the players for being a bit wary. It was a full blooded Aldershot performance, which was always going to be the case, as they were trying to prove something. The game against Woking will probably be a different team in each half, full team on Tuesday night and Bromley will definitely be a run out for the youngsters. I agree that Morrison needs to sharpen up though - he looked slow.
preseason or not that was shocking. Powell has a lot of work to do to get this team challenging for the top 6.
Get real.
exactly.....I was out last night and can't believe the amount of crap I've just read in this thread, it's a fooking pre-season friendly for crying out loud!!!
Didn't Newcastle lose 6-0 to Orient the year they got promoted?
Only a friendly, just a little concerned Morrison seems to be making a goal scoring error too often.
Also disappointed we haven't seen Alonso yet, but did a little research and he played the full 90 minutes on 4th June in their last game of the season. I'd expect him to start getting involved from here on in, only 2 weeks till the start of the season.
Just glad players are getting 90 minutes now since preseasdon is all about gearing up to Aug 6th, I want all the first team squad gettin at least 2 lots of 90min before then. Guessin half of the team tonight and half the team at woking will make up the first 11 so that they all get pretty much 90 min.
I'll reseve my judgement till I see them on tuesday nigth - then I can be all doom and gloom
Morning all, I've just been back and read through the match thread again (thanks for your thanks by the way, it was good to be back doing it again).....I think it was a good workout with many of the players playing a full 90 mins for the first time this pre-season. Green and Benno linked up well for the goal and there was some good build up play before Beno put it in the net......(bit concerned with the Beno to Notts County rumour tbh, I thought Green and Beno would play well together)......Bover sounded a real gem and was on the ball alot of the time....CB's however sounded as though they were caught out once or twice, Wiggins sounded as though he played well and was involved throughout the game.....we only made a couple of subs....The Shots made 9 I think so they always had fresher legs throughout the 2nd half. Dont think we should be upset by this result at all....it was a workout..looking to increase match fitness and let CP have a look at possible starting 11 and I think he will make 1 or 2 tweaks to tonights starting 11 before 6th august. Im looking forward to see what he does at Woking.....but i can see no need to panic or be concerned Finally, apologies for the typo's during the game....just trying to get the info out as quick as possible.
