Fact is, Len, whether or not climate change is a scam, the fossil fuels are running out and as they get more scarce they're going to get more expensive so renewable energy is the way to go.
The driver of this is a not a coherent longterm energy policy but slavish compliance with EU dogma.
I know many people on this forum think slavish compliance with EU dogma is a good thing but the original point was why are gas prices going up when wholesale prices are going down and this is the answer I'm afraid.
Or drive all the way round the M25 and cleverly avoid the toll.
I wonder if, as stupid as it sounds, that it would be economically viable, by means of alternative fuel (LPG, chip fat or otherwise) to prove that to drive all the way round the M25 and back could be cheaper than paying the toll charge?
Expect to see this in a Top Gear challenge in the near future...

Excellent idea lads, and something I will suggest if I get an interview for the creative director of top gear.........
A sort of fry and go ........ a fish and chip van, stopping at the services and using the oil, selling the said fish and chips, and move on to the next services!
good news - the government wants the barriers to go
bad news - still tolls
how?
p.s. locals do get a discount dart tag
Yes, go to thier website and apply.
Anyone can have a dart tag, not just locals.
Ah yes, but the locals get a special Dart Tag, thats only cost them 20p each way (until they decide to increase it), the reason given for this was for the inconveinence suffered and the pollution.
Don't know where you live saga lout, but most os postcode DA is covered by this it called the local resident scheme, it wasnt well advertised and it a bit of pain proving that your eligible, but it is worth it if you use it regularlly. Try www.dart-tag.co.uk to see if your in the area.

Thanks - I do have a dart tag, but I'm not getting the "locals" discount" - I'm in Bexley, which I think is outside the area.
Could there be a business here - get a small place in Dartford and offer it on the web as an address at which to register your dart tag?!
They said they won't going to charge us once the bridge and tunnel is paid off and years on they are still charging us. What they should sort out is the traffic congestion going towards the tunnel on the M25. Everytime I come home from work there is always a tail back. Luckily enough, I go the other way.
As the name suggests, I, too, live in deepest Essex and I stopped using the crossing when travelling to The Valley after it went up from £1.00 to £1.50. Instead I use the A13, which is a very fast road until you are almost at the Blackwall Tunnel (just be careful of the speed cameras at the London end). Usually, my 50 mile journey takes me less than an hour, almost identical to what it was when I went via the Dartford Crossing.

Or is that a bit too French?

Why on earth would I want to welcome a load of freaks round to my house? Because then you wouldn't feel unique???
