Had a productive loan at QPR in 2009/10 but struggled a bit at Hull, did have a mini purple patch around xmas last season and may need a move to reignite his career. From what I have seen he is powerful but not sure he will fufill our need for a target man no9 type forward.
Don't know much about him but have the impression he's a bit like Eccleston, winger/striker with pace, not suited to playing alongside BWP. Could be wrong but like Eccleston I don't see where he'd fit. Green and Wagstaff on the right is enough, up front we wouldn't drop BWP for him.
He scored a couple of goals for Arsenal in a League Cup game a few years ago, which prompted The Sun to go for the backpage headline, 'Oh, Jay Simpson!', which I liked.
I dont really care how good a player is, loans should only be entered into in near emergency situations as a last resort. It has become too easy and is lazy management to continually bring players in on loan. If a manager really fancies a player he should put his money where his mouth is and sign him. In case of injury the manager should have ensured that he has adequate cover for the injured player.
I dont want my club being used as a nursery/laboratory/testing ground for other club's players. Last season Martin was recalled just as he was coming good, causing disruption to team planning and loss of momentum. And how would you feel if you were signed to a club and never got a game because somebody just passing through was always picked ahead of you.
There is a place for loans, but the sheer number of them is getting a bit ridiculous. A team from the Championship (Leicester if I recall correctly) field an entire back 5 of loan signings last year.
I think it should be limited to 2 or 3, and intra-division loans should certainly be banned.
Jay Simpson showed a lot of early promise in his career, but looks to have drifted a bit recently. I'm not sure he's what we need. I don't want us to be changing the team every week if we don't click immediately. It took Andy Hunt a while to get going.

That is really my point. A rich book cooker like Mandaric can conjure up funny money to finance a team of players that he cannot afford to sign. Cardiff with Bellamy is another example of 'abuse' (in my terms) of the loan system. Spend a few quid and if it dosn't get promotion and makes a loss, a club can set off loan fees and wages against the tax liability. Jimmy Bullard looks like spendng the rest of his career in limboland because no club will sign him on a high wage but many clubs are ready to borrow him for a few weeks and hope they get success with him in the team.

His dad is a Moroccan - Mustafa Simpson.
Fair enough but could he play alongside BWP? He'd expect to play if he dropped down to League 1.
