i know it's common for a new signing to say the manager said all the right things but for majority of our signings to choose charlton over other clubs. made me think.
just how well did he sell the club and it's ambition?
Obviously very well, otherwise the likes of Green, Hollands etc. wouldn't have come here for sure. Powell is well respected within the game and that comes across in the interviews from the newly signed players. Just hope this season works out well for Powell (and us of course!).
Clearly very well. these days there can't be much to choose between the clubs, based on wages at our level, so the players know that their best chance of making it big and getting a career boost is to join a club with big plans that is making the headlines. i believe that that is us right now. he's been proactive in the transfer market, maybe a few aren't household names, but there will be some to come out of the signings that will be real gems. the important thing in all that has been said this year is that our club is building for a successful future, something all prospective players want. therefore i think it's SCP rather than anything else that has got them to sign the dotted line. lets sit back and enjoy (hopefully with lots of jumping around too).
Seems he's a bit of a master of the interview. The impression I got on him joining us was that he wasn't the first choice candidate but he interviewed extremely well and impressed the board. Evidently that ability carried over to signing players. It's a hell of a talent to have as is in the end teams are built on good players first and foremost. Maybe he could give me some tips
The manager, the board, the ground and the training facilities will all have sold the club. Certainly our facilities are head and shoulders above most Div 1 clubs and quite a few Championship clubs, we are also stable now,so it appears.
It would be interesting to know who is involved in the negotiations these days more and more in recent years players and managers are on the periphery of negotiations which are handled by agents and club suits. CP will have sold his vision and himself, would Vetere / Slater then sold the long term vision.
"did you know i was president/chair of the PFA at a time when wages rose faster and higher than ever before? 6 year £150k a week contracts for crocks.... that was me"

Roll on 6 August
Apparently not, someone mentioned the other week how out of date and old a lot of our equipment is.
Given that we've signed players from Bournemouth, Oldham, D&R etc, our equipment will look 21st century in comparison to what they've been used to.

The agents couldn't back him fast enough
