Yes the unbalanced amount of ex NI staff at the met media office 11 out of 45 does seem somewhat lopsided.
You would have thought it would be the opposite, transparent and beyond the old school tie/old boy network.
I am not sure how you address the balance though, for years at the BBC there was a similar charge against public school/Oxbridge higher management.
It seemed to hardly change in the 10 years I was there, until they linked it to staff appraisel/pay for heads of departments, along with disability/ethnic intake for higher management.
In a perverse way it affected 'work experience' it seemed to act against the candidate who knew someone or was related?.
I have to say that I always found the met press office very helpful, and efficient in there defence.

Also it seems that the ex-NotW hack who became the Mets £1k a day PR advisor was having chats with Andy Coulson in the run-up to the last election...

Agree with this, but If Labour had actually instigated a proper investigation all those years ago, then Cameron would have had proof that Coulson was/was not guilty of anything.
As Labour decided not to launch an enquiry it is all he can do is ask Coulson himself and the police, If they both turn up nothing then why not give a man a second chance. With hindsight as all agree it was a nightmare. But life isnt lived in hindsight.
also, DC is the first leader to put every single meeting online so anyone anywhere can see what he has been up to. I am no fan of the Tory party, being a Liberal for as long as I have voted, but this step alone is a massive imporvement on previous PM's
