Hi guys,
I think you may remember that back in the Selhurst
Park days I enlisted the help of my friend, Cheryl Baker who was then very high
profile with Bucks Fizz to do some promotional support for Charlton’s return to
The Valley – together with Tom Morris we staged a shot of her putting a ‘Vote
Valley’ sticker in ‘her’ car (it was actually my car!). She also came onto my
radio show ‘Charlton Chat’ with Karl Howman to help promote the club’s return
(attached). Her support for the Club and in particular The Valley Party
generated some great publicity for the club and without doubt she played her
part in the ultimate success of the campaign.
Cheryl is now starring in ITV’s ‘Popstar to Opera Star’ and
she has won through to the final which is taking place this Sunday,
10th. I said to her yesterday that I was sure that the Charlton fans
will support her in the Final as many fans still remember her support of the
club at such an important time in its history.
In the big scheme of things it’s quite a trivial matter –
she’s not running for charity or climbing Ben Nevis for a worthy cause – she’s
competing in a light entertainment production but it would be good if Charlton
fans got behind her on Sunday so I thought I’d contact you guys to start the
ball running......I hope you don’t mind?
Regards
Steve Sutherland

Thought there might have been a web thingy, I've never watched the programme.
BTW
Henry, I thought Suthers was a CL member. Why didn't he post this himself?
"putting a ‘Vote Valley’ sticker in ‘her’ car (it was actually my car!)."
I'll vote for her if she lends me her phone.
Only seen it the once and thought the whole presentation was awful, cheap and gaudy. Must be how ITV think opera is really like. But Mrs.M seems to enjoy it and her opinion is that the bloke, whoever he is, is going to take some beating. But I've always liked Cheryl, a happy person and it seems we have Gravesend in common, so will do my bit for her if I can.
dedications what you'd need - if you wanna f*ck a Cheryl Baker...
