  • Top work, Henry.
  • Need a striker
  • Need to pin down some of those 2012 contracts - or recoup.
  • Jordan Cousins isn't a midfielder is he?
  • He's both a holding midfielder and centre back so he fits in just grand where he's been placed.
  • And a right back. Much more of a defender than a midfielder.

Would be good to get Jackson and BWP down for a extra year would really strengthen us as a team building for the future.

But there's more important things right now.
  • Many thanks Henry
  • Cheers henners doing a grande job matey! defo looks like we need a striker or 2, also RB but coming together

    Roll on new season COYR

  • Gives you a different prespective when looking at that.

Now I would hope we sign a stirker or two along with a centre half.

  • If you put aside the "development players"  we have:

    2 Keepers with league experience

6 defenders with league experience (not counting Youga or Dailly)

7 midfielders with league experience (including McCormack but not Harriot)

    3 Strikers with league experience

    That's just 18 players.

OK a lot of teams in this league would die for the squad we have now but strip the kids and non-league players out and we have enough, just, for a match day squad.

And that's assuming no else leaves, gets injured or suspended.

Still need another two defenders and a striker IMHO

We still look weak in the Centre-back position. Would be happy getting a 'young buck' in on loan to play up front.
  • Fair comment Henners, but the squad building isn't yet complete and having a couple of kids in the match day squad/on the bench will be good for their experience.

Am I right in thinking that CP was talking about a 25 man squad for next season? Add Gough as third gk (I don't see any point in getting a third experienced keeper in unless an injury hits one or both of Sullivan or Elliot), and we aren't that far off.

  • I thought that at the end of last season Chris Powell was insistent that Jon Fortune be given a contract rather than being abandoned with an injury. Anybody any idea if/why this (over?)-generous idea has changed?
  • (over?)-generous
Maybe that was the board's view of it too.
  • I don't think CP said anything about giving him a contract, more like they wouldn't abandon him, and they'd help him to get fit again is all.

Presumably because he's still being paid - although the contract expired at the end of June there is an extra month on top -  asort of severance pay. I presume he'll get something that kicks in on August 1st.
  • There will still be a couple of loan signings coming in but it was reported on a different thread that these typically take place towards the end of the window - in fairness it's only the beginning of July and we've done a lot of business already - I'd doubt many other teams have brought in as many players as us at this stage.
  • Still need two CH, a striker and if Francis goes another RB.
  • Sad about Forch leaving.

  • Is it only me, or are other people gutted Miguel is leaving?!  I know he had his off days and when he played bad, he played BAD, but most of the time I thought he was solid enough.  Would've been great backup with great teckers who I think was very harshly treated suring his time with us.
  • yeah  mate  agree   - seemed to always care and genuinely gave 100 pct   -  plus the odd goal   .....
  • Only player who could take a free kick last season too...
  • I was more gutted at who's staying. I mean McOxo! Please ANY club make an offer, we'll take it.

    Starting bid 99p?

The problem is I can't see him getting offered a contract that's anywhere near what he was paid by Charlton, so why agree to a transfer?

offer him a settlement on his current contract so that he can go elsewhere and not lose out financially but we'd still get some wages off our books for a player who will never play for us again anyway
  • He might take a lower wage but a longer contract. One year at CAFC reserves or three years in someones first team.
  • Llera tried hard but he was a liability - even at this level which is saying something.

Didn't go to many games last season due to personal circumstances but Bournemouth away was one of those I did make and though he gave 100% he was a disaster waiting to happen from the first minutes.

Twice allowed a regulation long ball to bounce for no reason which would have led to goals for them had they possessed a half-decent front man.
  • Also despite his height, an obsession with some here, he was totally outplayed by Holt up at Narwch last season when we chucked a 2 goal lead realised then that he doesn't have the physical strength required at this level
  • "....... realised then that he doesn't have the physical strength required at this level."

But he's played for years at this level, once in a promotion winning side, and a while back a season in the Championship.
