I used to enjoy this when we had a team in it. We always did quite well but were replaced by QPR whilst we were still in the Prem. The last time we played Mark Robson was switched to the Spurs team because we had an extra player and they were one short. He went on to be player of the tournament.
Before it went Nationwide there was a London event where we lost to a strong Spurs side on pens. In that side we had Bob Bolder and Paul Walsh who later were part of the Liverpool team which dominates the event along with another ex Addick John Barnes. My favourite memory of that night was seeing Billy Bonds choose to play for Charlton and at nearly 60 was for me the best defensive player on show.
No-one really answered Discos question, as to why we are not in it anymore.
Is it that we can't be arsed or have to be invited? If the latter, why would teams like Barnet & Leyton Orient pop up in it over the past few years & not us?
I always assumed it was down to the clubs to finance a team, & as we haven't had a pot to piss in over the last few years, that that was the reason.
An event with all London clubs would be excellent! Or bring back Soccer Sixes! :-D
