A crazy idea.....

edited July 2011 in General Charlton
That might just work. As we have lost the Reading friendly, how about an exhibition match between 2 Charlton teams to replace it. It would give us a chance to look at all the new players and give more of them a game. Could include a few interviews with Chrissy and new signings and given the interest generated recently, I think it would be well supported. Could be billed as get to know the new squad. I'd go, would I be the only one though?

  • Certainly not a game as the risk of injury from a teammates would be stupid, but if a date is available they really should push forban open training session at the valley.

And there has to be a replacement game arranged. With so many changes they won't want the players opening match being mosts fits time there.
  • If you look back to the years between 1955 and 1961 we always had a pre season Reds v Blues or Reds v Whites attended by up to 4000. It was the days before pre season friendlies and lots of trialists were used. These days when fans live miles from the ground i dont think the club would bother as they play quite a few friendlies as it is and have enough time to assess players.
  • I mentioned the open training session when the Reading game got cancelled.

It worked well a few years ago.
  • Rugby often hold open ''possibles vs probables'' games.
