Don't want to put a damper on things BUT, when Chelsea first had their investment and big signings they ended up finishing 4th! Also City ended up mid table.
My point being do you think our new look squad may need a year before challenging for the top two? Or do you think a team gelling in this division is not as important as the top flight?

Im going into this season hoping we'll do well but not expecting it. We have signed players on relatively lengthy contracts which indicates we are looking long term rather than promotion at all costs.
Would be interested to know whether they are purely CPs's signings or whether their was influence from higher up. CP has a lot to prove this year but i hope the board and us give him and the players time to gel. Expect us to be around the play offs and as long as it isnt the disaster of last season will be happy seeing us moving forward.
With the squad we seem to be assembling we surely must be contenders but as you say BR7 nothing is certain just cos we've opened the cheque book. As was said by someone on another thread it's a good looking team on paper but its on the pitch that will be the proof of the pudding.
One thing in our favour should be that the signings have come in quite early on in the summer. Many seasons before has seen us playing trialists against Welling and not seeming to know our starting let alone best team til a fair few games in. Hopefully if we can recruit a few more signings, particularly at CB theyll have some gelling time before a ball is kicked proper in August.
I also hope that with all the new players they will all be chomping at the bit and hungry to prove themselves to the new manager and fans.
It's definately a two year plan because we've got a whole new line up.
charlton are taking the best players from their league, its different.
i dont want to sound impatient but like Dan says above I expect to do a Brighton
