So, we decided on The Importance of Being Earnest for my birthday weekend. Also now booked to see our own Charlie Connelly do his Shipping Forecast show at the Cutty Sark on October 17th.

I saw Inside No 9 last night in the Bromley Civic. Loved it. I am obsessed with the show so seeing them both live was great, Plenty of laughs, plenty of proper shocks.

It’s top drawer. And I loved Cheese and Cheese Crackers especially.

They are so believable when in character, they don't act, they are Cheese & Crackers. Amazing.

Second seeing of Every Brilliant Thing last week. Sue Perkins was good, but I definitely warmed to Lenny Henry in the role more.

Went to the matinee of Stereophonic yesterday. Really enjoyed it and the music, set and costumes are top drawer. It’s bloody long though! 3hrs 15mins with only one interval. First half was 1hr 45mins!
  • We saw, Witness for the Prosecution at the County Halls this week. A bit of an old tale but quite enjoyable.

If you fancy spending 1hr 45minutes in a traditional tiny Irish country pub with a barman/pub owner 3 locals (one of whom is Brendan Gleason) and a young newcomer lass from Dublin try to get tickets for The Weir at the Harold Pinter Theatre. It’s an excellent play with tales of the supernatural, typical humour and some pathos. Well worth seeing as I did yesterday for an afternoon matinee. I came out, turned on the mobile just as our late winning goal went in at against Sheffield United. A great afternoon and a fine Crack.
  • I saw Til the Stars Come Down 2 weeks ago. Couldn't recommend it enough its brilliant. A great script, some hilarious and also heartfelt moving acting/topics.
If you've ever been to a typical working class wedding this is it in spades. Some outstanding acting and I don't know how these actors, especially the 3 main sisters in it, do it night after night, the energy it takes is amazing. Don't get me wrong there's plenty of wedding day cliches etc but i just didn't care because it was done so well.

If you get a chance go.

Lenny Henry next week in Every Brilliant Thing which I cant wait for.

Definitely agree with the recommendation for The Weir, and sit in the front row of the stalls if you can tickets are cheaper and it is excellent (go on the left hand side of the theatre if you can). Every Brilliant Thing is good, though is, er, influenced by Woody Allen. https://youtu.be/JKTQ4a3BR5c?si=7yo1yiQsLe69hlDP

Moved out of London so some more local theatre

    booked
    Party Girls at Eastbourne Theatre
    2:22 at  Brighton
    Talented  Mr Ripley at Brighton
  • Really enjoyed 2.22.

Wasn't what I was expecting (jump scares, maybe a bit like Woman in Black) but I think it was the better for it - was funny with an intriguing story.
  • Stage/Fright was absolutely fantastic, from the 'quiet in the theatre' sketch onwards.
  • I can recommend "The Choir of Man" at the Arts Theater, just off St Martins Lane a few weeks back.
I wasn't expecting much but Its not a bad couple of hours. Even has a bar on stage where you buy a pint pre-show.
Saw this a couple of weeks ago, great show, free beers given out during the show, great little theatre. Highly recommend.

Saw Mary Page Marlowe at the Old Vic on Friday. Terrific performances, including Susan Sarandon in 3 or 4 of the 11 sketches that made up the whole, but i left disappointed in what i felt was a weak plot as if i'd missed something.   There was a reference very near the end to a woman in a blue dress, which made no sense to me but at the same time seemed very significant. After i looked up what this represents in the tarot the missing part fell in to place.

Queen of cups- woman in blue.

    My god.
Saw Lenny Henry in Every Brilliant Thing last night. What a great show. Moving profound educational bloody funny short!

Blown away by it to be fair.

I also had a bit part that Lenny called very geezerish to much mirth.

I’d be interested to hear from anyone that’s been to see others do it as it seemed very Lenny Henry if you know what I mean.

    I’m going again without doubt

Said earlier on in the thread that I initially saw it with Lenny Henry and loved it. I am not an especially big fan of his but thought he was great in the roll and it really suited him.

second visit was to see it with Sue Perkins. Again, she was very good, but I definitely warmed to Lenny more than her. Lenny was better at the audience participation stuff as well. Definitely came more naturally to him.

Same as that mate. I’m not usually a fan but he was so good for this. My main question is did Sue Perkins have the same music and references etc? Or does each actor choose their own.

My daughter was 999 and I was 253,354 near the end. 😂

On our way home now from seeing Lenny in Every Brilliant Thing.
Really good, and again I’m not what you’d consider a fan, it probably should be compulsory to be fair….tempted to see it again with one of the others…

Sidebar, I was disappointed that Trevor McDonut didn’t make an appearance however…
