Here it is, what all of Charlton Life has been waiting for.


A complete, stat-tastic round-up of Charlton and League One in the 2010/11 season in the second annual Charlton Life Statbank, now new and improved in a 13-page downloadable PDF.

Many thanks go out to Lancashire Lad for his diligent work throughout the season compiling all the player ratings, and apologies to him (and everyone else) for taking so long to get this finalised and published.

Finally, thanks to everyone who supplied (serious) player marks throughout the season. The Statbank we feel is unique, and a great addition to the site, so thanks again.

    Stat that screams out at me... we were infront 22 times and behind 22 times

    In those 22 games we were behind in, we only got 11 points out of - that's a hell of a large % of our league games to only get 11 points from

    Great stuff. Interesting that only Orient and Peterborough scored more than us in the last 15 minutes and let's look on the bright side, average shots off target per game has gone down ;-)

    I thought the capacity of The Valley was 27,111 though? ;-)

    Oggy - not every goal is assisted, a player could tackle a defender and go on to score. Not sure if scoring from a rebound after a team mate shoots counts either.

    Would be interesting to see how those stats compare to Brighton and Southampton's, do top teams come back very often or do they usually take the lead.

    Oggy, I'd assume a combination of... penalties/direct free kick's whereby who is fouled does not contribute an "assist", "assists" from opposition players, etc

    Because we only try and acknowledge deliberate assists, ie a pass, cross, header etc. We don't include other teams mistakes, or when its a scramble, penalties etc.

    Fantastic work guys... if we needed any proof the season was mostly cack, here it is.

    If you're into stats, what about the Pareto principle (basically 80% of outcomes are achieved from 20% of effort)? Could this be applied to football strategy? Or am I just bending the thread in a daft way?

    One mistake I've noticed though: BWP is included in the 25+ appearances section when it's stated that he made 20 appearances? I assume it's just an error that was missed when you proof-read. :-)


    ...Jackson scored 13 goals but had only 31 shots in total. STICK HIM UP FRONT!

    It's noticeable that on just about every measure we did worse than the previous season, but I guess we knew that anyway.  Congrats to Chris Solly, the only player to improve on his previous season's average rating.

    i've just come

    the away following stats

    ours down 47% , says it all new ground syndrome

    good home numbers but i think only mk dons with just over 4.5% of home support following them away have worse percentages than us with 5%

    bournemouth had a bigger  away fans average than us !

    i mean we are perfectly located to get anywhere but i forgot all away teams fans live in a london so are they then

    Interesting to note that Elliot, arguably second only to Francis as Charlton life's favourite scapegoat, came out third in the averafe rating over the season.

    agree proves that our fans over inflate goalies ratings len

    blobbie elliot average mark 6.46

    sullivans 4 appearances got him a 6.84 average rating and worners 8 appearances got him a 6.37rating

    Graet stats, will study in more detail but 2 things jump out. 12 games without scoring seems lot. Secondly it looks as though if games only lasted 15 minutes we might have won the league! Noticeable how both brighton and Soyuthampton get much stronger as games went on

    Great stats!

    One thing that stood out was how inconsistent Waggy's stats are. 2nd bottom in the ratings for player with 25+ appearances, yet he has 3 MoMs and 7 top threes. He's also the only player to be in both the lists for best individual performances and worst individual performances. If Powell can get some consistency out of him then we could have a very good player.
