Romain Vincelot linked with us by SLP

edited June 2011 in General Charlton

Has been linked to us by the SLP this morning . DM we've monitored him for a long time  If he came that would almost certainly mean the end of Semedo.

They also reckon Llera has various offers from both England and Europe .

  • As a DM he scores a lot of goals as well, so that would be one improvement on Semedo.

We seem to be looking at the best avail talent from League 1 last year. That does mean that we are mot going to be snapping up household names, but if we were in the Championship and signing the best championship players, we would all be head over heels.

So these are the players I think will help us.

  • I think our lack of experience at league one level has been a massive hinderence to the team we have now and last year, so signing the 'best' of league one is a sound move by the club imo.
  • This looks like a good signing if it happened, hard grafter and goalscorer.
  • Very decent player and I'm sure we've been linked with him in the past.
  • Romain Vincelot (born 29 October 1985 in PoitiersFrance) is a French footballer who signed as a defender for League One sideDagenham & Redbridge.

He started his career with Chamois Niortais, where he made 46 league appearances in four years, including a number of games inLigue 2.[1] He moved to FC Gueugnon in 2008 and played 20 league games for the side during the 2008–09 campaign. He was released by the club in the summer of 2009 and spent the following six months without a team before signing for Dagenham & Redbridge on 22 January 2010.[2] He made his Football League debut the next day, coming on as a substitute in the 1–2 defeat toShrewsbury Town. He scored his first goal for the club in a 2-1 win over Burton Albion on 17 April 2010.[3] Despite being signed as a full-back, the Dagenham manager John Still played him the centre of midfield. It seemed to work, and he quickly became a first team regular, and became liked by the fans for his hard work and tirelessness. He played in the winning team in the League Two playoff final at Wembley on 30 May 2010.[4]He has continued playing in the 2010–11 season, despite receiving a concussion in the match against Colchester United. By the conclusion of the 2010–11 season, Vincelot ended as top league scorer for Dagenham & Redbridge with 12 goals.
  • Whose to say as well that the players we are being linked with (& Hollands) could not make step up to CCC.

Don't think Leeds, Norwich or Wall changed their squads drastically and look how well they all did.

  • scoring 12 goals from midfield is a great record.  i feel like southampton did last year picking the crop of the league.
  • they like him. LOVED paul benson as well and he didn't turn out to be the catch we thought.
  • Great Point! However at least this guy is tested at this level and still impressed, Benno had not even done that.

  • yep, hope we get him,

Benson really isn't that bad. Its just we didn't give him the service he thrives on... He showed that he is a good player in the last few games of the season, where he worked hard and created chances, scoring a couple himself.

Vincelot would indeed be a great addition.
  • Benson got 10 goals in 30 games in a new team that doesn't revolve around him Im confident he get 15 next season
  • Indeed you're right we didn't help benson at all. he liked to sit up top and get on the end of crosses. ( how the majority of his goals was scored) not as a target man who will beat players.
  • How could you possibly knock Benson, I actually think, for this level, he is a very intelligant, classy forward!Definitely agree with CAFCBourne, will notch 15 easily next season!
  • i never knocked him? i just said he never turned out to be the clinical striker we all hoped for.
  • I think Benno would thrive in the goal scoring stakes if he had a sustained chance to build with BWP and had a player like Danny Green to provide the service.
  • Just think Benno was playing in a very poor side Marriott110 thats all mate. I think he has shown more than enough potential to suggest he will come good. At the very least, he would be good back up for BWP and Hayes!

Benson admits that he was asked by CP to add more to his game rather than simply waiting for chances to come. This meant that he was trying to link play more which inevitably led to him not always being in places he was previously for D & R. As said though we didn't create much for our c/f's last season anyway.

Benno could still be a success with us with the right service.

  • Ive seen enough of Benson to think he's got plenty of goals in him.

Definitely agree with Beds and all the others - give Benno the service and he'll convert a very decent proportion of them.

Remember his old manager saying, "If you whip in the early ball, Benno will get on the end of it - he's worth 20 goals a season if you do that."
Who provided much of the service? ........ Danny Green, of course.

  • I like the sound of Vincelot.

Sounds like he's got the touch, drive and determination of a Scott Parker type.
  • proberly their best player that they had last season better than the ex addick imo, i thought he played well and was a real handfull when i watched them last season

i would be happier with him than i was with benson
