Prediction: Division 1 Supremos 2011/2012

edited June 2011 in General Charlton

1) Sheffield United

2) Leyton Orient

3) Charlton Athletic

4) Sheffield Wednesday

5) Hartlepool

6) Stevenage

Discuss. What odds would i get on that lot? Am I peaking too early?

Huddersfield: due a fall

Bournemouth/MK Dons: just how did they manage to be so successful last season?

The rest are much of a muchness. Any given day is the name of the prediction game in this division.

I still am in shock at Sheffield United being relagated. Warnock must surely be re-named Warlock, he works magic wherever he goes, doom descends on those he leaves behind. Stevenage are the new Wimbledon crazy gang, momentum, team spirit and bloody mindedness, Hartlepool have been consistent over the past few years and now have a few quid as well as Norberto Solano, the shrewdest close season signing so far. Orient?, my dark horses. Good manager, decent form last season, will do well. They'll move into the Boleyn as soon as West Sham go all olympic on us.

Right. I am off to the bookies

From what I have learned about League One for the couple of seasons we have been in it is that it is unpredicatable. A team like Swindon can make the play off final one season and go down the next. I hope Bounemouth are ok, I really do, but it looks like their relative success may mean they lose key players and they could suffer. Can't see Orient getting automatic and we have to be in with a chance if it is true we are actually bidding for players. We'll know the relative strengths and weaknessess of squads nearer the start of the season though and before then predictions are as unscientific as they can possibly be.
  • Its way to early to make those sort of predictions.
  • Surely a fiver on that top 6 would be astronomical odds,OK un likely to come up but for the sake of a fiver worth a punt?
  • I have lost count of the amount of people who think Sheffield United will storm the league. I very much doubt they will. They will lose players as any team does upon relegation and the quality they get in won't be as good (obviously). They will take time to adjust- as we did and if anything I feel they will struggle. Sheffield Wednesday are a far better bet as they showed visible signs of improvement at the end of last season and if that is carried forward to next they could well be a force. As for Orient, great last year but I don't think it will repeat it next time.

cheers Richie, not sure about a fiver, probably a pound at most.
  • When it comes to betting on football I take a lot of notice of Bookies odds. Of course they don't get everything right, but it is their living and they spend a lot of time and energy on it. A bet I enjoy is to pick a team from each Division, and cover them in singles, doubles, trebles and an accumulator. I use a £1 stake, and my best result so far was to pick up £270 at the end of the season, and had a lot of fun along the way.

me too. My bet last season was a yankee: Championship; Forest, Div 1: Charlton, Div 2: Norhampton and Conference: Grimsby. the moral of the story is: Under NO circumstances back the same sides as me.
  • hartlepool, leyton orient stevenage!!!!!!!  and lincsaddicks are you from northampton?
  • Can't see Orient or Hartlepool being that high. Could see Chesterfield being the surprise package. Hudd up as champions
