Good start, still a long way to go!

edited May 2011 in General Charlton
Good positive start in the transfer window by Powell, but still a long way to go.

1st Team

Sullivan
Francis ? ? (Bessone)
(Green) Hollands Jackson (Martin)
BWP (Hayes)

2nd Team

Elliot
Solly Docherty Mambo ?
Wagstaff McCormack Pritchard Harriot
Benson ?

Can put either Solly or Francis in the first team. Possibles in brackets, but I don't think we have much chance of getting Danny Green, I think he will go to the championship. Beginning to take shape, but still a long way to go.

  • Not Francis... Please not Francis.

Solly is so much better. Would like to see Pearce from Notts in CB with Dailly maybe. Then Bessone RB.

Wagstaff should be a sub not in the starting line up. We need a new right winger. Hollands and Jackson CM maybe with a new LW.

BWP with a strike partner of either Hayes, Harewood or even Benson???

  • sullivan

    solly dailly *new cb* ?bessone?

    wagstaff hollands jackson *new lm*

    BWP *new st*

    simples

  • NO WAGSTAFF!!

He is sub quality not starting line up quality.

  • 1st Team

    Sullivan
    Solly        ?         ?      Evina
    ?     Alonso     Hollands   Jackson
    BWP      Hayes

    2nd Team

    Elliot
    Solly    Docherty    Mambo       ?
    Wagstaff McCormack Pritchard Harriot
    Benson      ?

3 good signings today, centre backs next please.

The midfield would be awesome if Green slots in on the right.

  • Sullivan
    Solly        ????        ???      Evina
    Alonso     Hollands   Jackson
    BWP      Hayes     ???
  • Elliot

    Solly ? ? Evina

    ?(hopefully Green) Hollands Alonso Jackson

    BWP Hayes

  • Ideally want okuonghae and legge as cb options, pearce or another good addition would be useful too

Could easily revert to 4-3-3 if we get green and martin

    Sullivan/elliot

    Solly legge okuonghae evina/youga

    hollands alonso jackson

    green BWP martin

Subs of unused GK, doherty, francis, wagstaff, pritchard, hayes (depending on formation as could play as 1 of 2 up top or as a central figure of a 3 including BWP), benson, donaldson.

If we got 3 good cbs, no reason why we couldnt try 3 across the back providing they had pace, with evina at left wing back and solly/wagstaff at right wing back, with 2 of the cms and green/martin floating behind bwp and hayes

If we could only get centre backs i believe we could become quite versatile and not just stuck to knowing one way of playing
  • At the moment I'd be looking at Elliot, Francis, AN Other, Doc, Evina, Waggy, Hollands,Alonso, JJ, BWP, Hayes -we need a couple of centre halfs, a left back, a midfielder or two and another striker. I think we need to look more to getting width from the full backs. I think both Solley and Francis have an attacking game as clearly does Evina who can also play as a winger. This would allow us to beef up the midfield, possibly play Waggy in a more central role behind the front 2. Would like to see the players coiming in now to be of a certain quality.
  • I'd like:

    Sullivan
    Solly----Legge----???----Evina
    Alonso----Hollands----Jackson
    Green---BWP----Hayes
  • Sullivan

    Solly--Semedo--(Pearce)--Evina
    (Green) Alonso Hollands Jackson
    Bwp

  • Meant to put Hayes up top with bwp

Assuming we deal with the issues at the centre of the defence + elsewhere and assuming that José leaves, I feel as though we should be looking at bringing in another RB who can also play in midfield if needed or vice-versa, much like a right sided Johnnie Jackson. We cannot justify having three specialist right backs on the books at this level but I feel that the Francis/Solly combination isn't enough to cover the whole season.

We should be looking at a fairly cheap utility player for this in my opinion. I've searched the PFA Transfer List and found the following names:
    1. Karl Duguid (aged 33)
    2. Danny Coid (aged 29)
    3. Jonathan Douglas (aged 29)
    4. Radostin Kishishev (aged 36)

Anyone got any thoughts on this idea? I used this method to find Anyinsah two or three days before he put pen to paper so it can be a very worthwhile exercise.
