Michael Buble tribute act junk mail

Just had a letter from CAFC - thought it might be something about my new season ticket, or being buttered up by Slater or Powell. Oh no...

"Charlton Athletic are hosting another night of chart hits and swing classics. This time from the brilliant Michael Buble.

Everything Buble is the UK's number one tribute to the cheeky soulful multi-platinum phenomenon, Michael Buble and comes to The Valley on Friday 15th July, 7pm-12am.

With his fun sense of humour and romantic touch touch, Everything Buble embodies the very essence..."

*spew*

Why on earth is the club wasting money on junk mail about non-football events? I don't mind being mailed about football-related things, but tribute acts to shite? Please, no.

  • If only Peter Varney or kingston were in charge of these types of things.
  • clearly their customer profiling identifies you as the type of person who would enjoy such an event!

    Sarky sod!
  • If my recent move into the "36-55" tick box is to blame for this, I'm going to start lying about my age (or bathing in Oil of Ulay).
  • Hey, the quoting tells you who've you quoted again.  Whispers will be back soon at this rate.
  • An opportunity to boo at The Valley without the team being there.

    Diary noted.

    My thoughts exactly!

I've heard Varney and Kavanagh are huge Buble fans and often play his music, plus Glee and Susan Boyle, to staff in the offices at the Valley to lift their morale.
  • There is actually good revenue for CAFC in these events, judging by the figures for the recent Motown/Soul night hosted by Solar Radio in the North Stand Lounge...
  • I heard that too - and also that Airman Brown wasn't best pleased because up until then he had dominated the playlist with his love of French chamber music, skiffle and the Quo.

Steve Sutherland's obession with the music of Tiny Tim was the last straw for Richard Murray whose always been a fan northern soul and more recently dubstep.
  • I would not pay to see the real thing
  • Sounds like his Buble has burst.
  • I believe our AFKA is partial to a little Buble
  • Laugh a minute spirit of 1947 is.
  • If a letter a Buble made you change your mind by 30% could I ask what it would be if it was a Tom Jones tribute?

Is there a sliding scale or a different percentage dependant on how many number ones they've had? If it's a group, say the Spice Girls tribute would you go up to 70% because the little blonde sort would be there and then down because the ginger one would be as well?

Also, if it was the real Buble would you have dropped more or less than 30%?

    Thanks in advance.

  • If someone impersonating Buble comes through my letterbox after being sent by Charlton Ill be sending the club the cleaning bill for my carpet.
  • Call me irresponsible but I'm seriously considering asking spiritof47 to come fly with me ;-)

Yeah. No wonder we're all miserable now if that was the spirit of the year we actually won something.

  • How did it go?
  • What about if it was the Bootleg Beatles?
  • Rick Astley? The proper one.
