Jordan Cousins

Just watching Cousins playing for England U17s (Unfortunately we lost 0-1) in the semi-final and he took a throw in Delap style and reached the penalty spot
Silly question time!
Is the pitch for U17s a full size one?
Holland were a lot better than us in the first half but England came back into it in the 2nd

I'm not sure about pitch sizes Creepyaddick but this sounds promising to me . I always remember a real cracking game we had with Stoke and Delap at the Valley when we won 2-1 , he caused us no end of problems .

Apart from Greg Halford and in the 70's Mark Penfold I can't remember when we have had a potent throw in expert. It would certainly add to our effectiveness.

  • PITCH SIZE

    The Valley: Pitch
    Size:
112 x 73 yards So ours is 5 yards wider so an extra 2.5 yards to the P Spot
  • Leaburn was decent at long throws.
  • Could be a useful weapon- Given his young age- how long do you think it will be before he is competing for a place? Is next season too soon?

  • Yes, Leaburn was good at long throws. Shame he wasn't quick enough to get on the end of them as well.
  • He did make a few good runs and crosses too!
    Hopefully Liverpool weren't watching
Another player who really stood out was a kid up front called Redmond from Brum
  • He's dead good in football manager 2011

Steve Avory on the u18s and Cousins, also talks about Osborne, Azeez and Harriott.

"Jordan Cousins is someone you feel day in day out shows such dedication and desire to want to become a footballer," continued Steve.
"The thing you notice about Jordan most of all is the level-headedness with which he goes about his business.

"He goes away with England three or four times a season, although he feels as though at times that has interrupted his season and finds it difficult to adjust when he comes back into playing academy football.

"That's such an honest view and he has said that has affected one or two of his performances for the U18s.

"I know from talking to the England staff they couldn't be more delighted with him. His season is far from finished as he's just came back from the European U17 Championships and has two weeks before he goes off to the World Championships in Mexico.

"Typically, Jordan is worried when he comes back, and he knows he has to rest when he comes back, is worried at how that might affect him as he starts the new season. He so much wants to do well, but equally he needs to be sensible and he is going to need some down time when he gets back from Mexico before he kicks off the new season.

Can you see him stepping up to first team level next season? If so, what position?
  • We're talking him up like he's the next Rio Ferdinand , if he is as good as they say he is,  then lets get 10 million plus for him a la Walcott.

And there you go Chris Powell theres your transfer kitty for the next 2 seasons.

I think we have been shortchanged on selling youngsters on to bigger clubs, but have not been in a position to say no.

  • OR we use him for the next 3 or 4 seasons, hopefully helping us to get back closer to the Premiership than we are now, and then sell him if we need to, based on performance rather than expectation? No-one is going to pay £10 for him, not right now anyway. Though I am adamant that if the new board came in 12 months earlier Shelvey would have been sold for far more than 1.7million, but we were desperate

I've seen him a few times on TV, read things here and there, still not sure on his best position myself.

Can play right back but has looked more like a central player to me. Probably not strong enough or good enough in the air to play centre back, but then I don't think we'd put a 17 year old in defensive midfield either.

I guess for now right back is most likely at his age. Next season might be too early for him, but then we have no idea what sort of players we're going to bring in.
  • Could he be the new Semedo, playing in the holding role?
  • Too small I think to be a defensive mid, Semedo isn't the tallest but he's really, really strong physically. Give Cousins some time to fill out a little first.
  • So if we could somehow put Cousins' footballing ability in Yado Mambo's body we'd have the greatest centre half of all time?
  • We'd have one better than either is individually, anyway. IMO, of course, I've not seen much of either player.
